Embracing Duty and Honor to Make "Something Beautiful for God"

Thank you, St. Joseph, for
showing fathers how to be
dutiful dads!
Snippets of two poems are running through my head today. The first one is:

I could not love thee, dear, so much
Loved I not honor more.

Those lines come from Richard Lovelace's poem, To Lucasta, Going to the Warres (1649) Here's the whole thing, a lovely poem worth the trouble to memorize.

Tell me not, sweet, I am unkind,
That from the nunnery
Of thy chaste breast and quiet mind
To war and arms I fly.

True, a new mistress now I chase,
The first foe in the field;
And with a stronger faith embrace,
A sword, a horse, a shield.
