Please! Don't Follow Fr. Altman into the Labyrinth!

I received an email from a friend today who is disillusioned with the pope. (What serious Catholic isn't?) I was sorry to see her saying she totally agrees with Fr. Altman's recent statements and decision to embrace sedevacantism. I do not! 

Perhaps I misunderstood my friend's remarks, because she ended her email saying we all need to stick to tradition. I certainly agree with that! But I truly regret what Fr. Altman. is doing even though his criticism of the pope is legitimate. He is popular and many Catholics are likely to follow him -- but where to?

Editor's note: I received this thoughtful letter from a priest in response to my Open Letter to Bishop Callahan. I agree with much of what Father says, although I could not in good conscience vote for a Democrat, without a compelling reason, as long as their party embraces whole-heartedly sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance. But Father's criticism of Republicans is totally justified. For too many years, pro-lifers have been the neglected step-children of the Republican party which is why I never support the party, only individual candidates. I have added my response to Father's letter in the comments section. I hope you will read his letter and give me your thoughts as well.

I am an orthodox Catholic who has spent my entire adult life fighting for babies waiting to be born: sidewalk counseling outside abortion facilities, offering a shelter home for moms in crisis, even going to jail several times for rescue attempts. As President of the Catholic Media Coalition, I speak for many likeminded Catholics who deplore the attacks on Holy Mother Church and those who defend her. Many of our members have watched and listened to the edifying sermons by Fr. James Altman and remarked on what a blessing he must be to his bishop for speaking the truth with clarity and charity about the moral obligation of Catholics, particularly our shepherds, to defend intrinsic moral issues.

They take a little more effort than signing the petition supporting Fr. Altman, but all these things help to get the word out and make the issue BIGGER! He preached the truth saying you can't be Democrat and Catholic! Read the Democrat platform especially the section on women's rights and gender equality. Does this conform by any stretch to Catholic teaching or is it in direct violation supporting sins that call to heaven for vengeance? Believe me, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out! When Will We Get the Report on McCarrick from the Vatican?

It's been two years and we're still waiting for the promised report about Cardinal Theodore McCarrick. So much for Vatican transparency. Bishops have asked a number of times for the report to be released...the response?....crickets! Now why would that be?
