My husband and I decided to go to the DMV yesterday to apply for Real ID. I hadn't really done any research on it. I presumed it was just an enhanced driver's license, not much different from the standard license issued by the state. Fortunately, I ran into a snag. I didn't have my official marriage license and needed that to validate the name change from my birth certificate. So I came home without filling out the applicatio. My husband was able to get one though, more's the pity.

Do Your Kids Belong to the State? They Do Under Common Core!
Better read up on this. Every tyrannical government goes after the kids. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. Both parties have been involved in usurping parents' role as primary educators. You parents, after all, are too dumb to know what to do. So the professionals and the government bureaucrats at the Department of Education will do it for you. Note that CC dumbs down education. According to a math expert involved in developing CC who refused to sign off on the finished product, by 8th grade, children will be about two years behind their peers in other countries in math skills. CC also allows the Department of education to share your children's private and identifiable information (including health information and disciplinary histories) with whomever they deem appropriate -- one more assault on privacy.
Here are some links to get started learning about Common Core and why it's dangerous for your kids. If you want them to be dumbed down government robots just climb on board with Common Core. If you want children who can think for themselves rationally instead of emotionally, fight CC!

Ken Cuccinelli for Governor of Virginia
Okay all you Virginians out there. We have the opportunity to elect a man who truly will stand for family values, states rights, constitutional principles, and fiscal responsibility. But the election starts long before you enter the voting booth. Virginia Republicans will select our candidate at a state convention next May. Sign up now to be a delegate for Ken. He's the one who worked to protect Virginia landowners from eminent domain laws that would let government bullies take property to build shopping malls or a hotels. He's unapologetically pro-life, he supports constitutional rights including the second amendment.
Ken is the right man for Governor of Virginia. Sign up today to be a convention delegate. Think of the fun a bunch of pro-life constitutionalists can have in Richmond. We'll meet you at the Melting Pot after we get Ken on the ballot! Bring your coupon.

I'm Signing the Petition in Virginia!
I love this article - Sore Liberal Winners - and, while I hadn't planned to sign the Virginia secession petition, this convinced me to do it. Everybody knows no state is going to secede, but we can sure voice our displeasure against out-of-control central government! Here's an excerpt:
These petitions are purely symbolic, a way to express displeasure at both the current administration and Congress -- including the GOP establishment running the loyal opposition. It is a way of asserting the 10th Amendment to the Constitution, making it plain that we still have states and that those states are not going to simply roll over. It is in the finest traditions of the Sons of Liberty who sought secession from the Union -- the Union Jack -- and who at first tried quite hard to simply access the rights of Englishmen. America did not want to break with the British Empire in the early days, but had the matter thrust upon them. I have little doubt Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, John Adams, John Hancock would have eagerly signed one of these petitions. So get out your pen and sign your John Hancock to the petition in your state. Let 'em know we're sick of taxation without representation and we're going to work for states' rights against the behemoth of a federal government that detests freedom-loving people who support our Constitutional Republic!

The Revolution is On: The States Are Fighting Back
We lost the battle; the war continues. Time to regroup.
We have our own version of the evil empire right here in Washington, D.C. A truimvirate of Obama-Pelosi-Reid. They make George III look benevolent. Most of the country opposed this power grab of 16% of the U.S. economy, but that didn't keep the empire from imposing it on us.
Join the revolution. Contact your local legislators and ask them to challenge Congressional action to force citizens under penalty of prison to enter into a forced contract with the federal government. Get involved. As Edmund Burke said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
