To care or to kill:
what does your medical directive say?

My sister is in the hospital. She has pneumonia, the antibiotic-resistant form. Not too surprising really
since she was a 40-year smoker and has compromised lungs. She's very sick, but not terminally ill. In fact, amazingly, she does NOT have lung cancer and has a long history of coming back from illness.

Fortunately, Jeanne has a power of attorney (me) who is well-informed on end-of-life issues. I know that the MOST and POLST forms (identifying patients wishes for treatment) can be  life-threatening. They are being used to pressure vulnerable patients into choosing non-treatment. I knew it was happening, but got a graphic example of it this week with my sister's situation.

Many saints who were priests encouraged their brethren to preach frequently about death. After our birth and baptism, death is the most important hour and one for which we need to be well-prepared. Nursing students will often be the last contact in life except for family and close friends. A proper attitude toward death and respect for the dying patient is absolutely crucial. Please pray for those in the medical profession. In our culture of death, many are being trained not to preserve and protect life, but to hasten death. Fight the culture of death and love and respect those who are near life's end.

We’ve come to the close of our annual month-long reminder of the obvious: We’re all going to die. It’s a truism that we learned as kids in Sunday school and CCD—the first of the four Last Things: death, followed by judgment, and then heaven and (rather, or) hell—although we Catholics are reminded of death year round. It’s front and center in our liturgy, our creed, and even our routine devotional prayers. “Pray for us sinners,” we repeatedly implore the Blessed Mother in our rosaries, “now and at the hour of our death.”

#"Brain-Death" is a Fraud: Educate Yourself on End of Life Issues

Two weeks ago, the Catholic Media Coalition held a meeting on End of Life Issues. We need to get the word out about the "transformation" of modern medicine from patient-oriented to preserve and protect life to $$$-oriented with limited treatment and hastening death. I gave the introductory talk. What's happening is deliberate with a well-organized cadre of death-dealing foundations like George Soros' Open Society, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, etc. They aren't content with killing off the little ones in the womb. Their targets now are the "useless eaters" and the injured who can be "farmed" for their valuable organs. You'll note in the video a chart from 2011 showing just how much money one young body filled with healthy organs can provide to the transplantation industry.

   In 1973, prior to Roe v. Wade, only 17 states allowed abortion (except for life of the mother) and one, New York, had voted to repeal its law.[i] Only a veto by Nelson Rockefeller allowed the killing to continue in the Empire State.[ii] On January 22, 1973, however, all of that changed. Seven men on the Supreme Court imposed abortion-on-demand for the entire country, in effect, legislating under what conditions the states could “limit” the act. The companion ruling Doe v. Bolton, answered that question defining “health” so broadly that no abortion up to birth could be refused if a doctor were willing to do it.[iii] And, in fact, over the years it became obvious that many abortionists, like George Tiller, Kermit Gosnell, and Leroy Carhart would kill babies even days before birth inventing the particularly gruesome Partial Birth Abortion (PBA) method to ensure that potentially viable infants could be murdered in the birth canal by stabbing them in the upper neck and sucking out their brains avoiding the “complication” of a live birth. PBA not only ensured delivery of a dead baby, but provided an “intact specimen” for fetal wholesalers like Opening Lines which began trafficking in baby body parts in 1989.[iv]
