Sunday Meditation: Who's "Along for the Ride?"

Was Jesus "along for the ride" as Mary carried Him to visit Elizabeth, as she went to the well for water, as she weaved swaddling clothes and worked at the loom, as she traveled to Bethlehem and rested on a bed of straw in the stable? Or were Mary and all of us "along for the ride," the most amazing ride in the history of mankind? As we celebrate Gaudete Sunday, let us rejoice at the Incarnation of God made man and realize that the conception and birth of every baby is a reminder of that miracle. Pray for parents that they will rejoice at new life, protect it, and celebrate the joys of parenthood making their own homes the imitation of the Holy Family's home at Nazareth. May Jesus Christ be praised!

 

You are Fearfully, Wonderfully Made

Alexander Tsiaras uses the term "divinity" several times during the course of his presentation. He's got it right. We are "fearfully, wonderfully made" as Psalm 139 tells us, made in the image and likeness of God. Our complexity did not come about by accident and sure didn't develop out of the primordial soup or on the back of crystals. God called us forth and knew us at every moment as we grew in the womb. What a wonder to watch the miracle of pre-natal development unfold.

Miracle of Pre-Natal Development

Modern ultrasound is a miracle in itself, providing a window into the womb. Think how many babies would be saved if every woman saw an ultrasound of her little one. The pro-aborts try to dehumanize the baby with the word "fetus" but that just means "young one" or "little one." Pass this on to every pregnant woman you know, especially if she's considering an abortion.
