Another Catholic College President Spouts Hypocrisy

Patricia McGuire, President of Trinity University in Washington, D.C., is embarrassed by the "ugly spectacle" of "Catholic vigilantes" threatening "a half-century of progress for Catholic education" and taking us back to "those insular, parochial pre-Vatican II days" when "academic freedom was not valued within the Catholic Church." Her rant accuses those who protested Obama being honored at Notre Dame of having faces "distorted in the snarl of hatred."

Wow! I didn't see hate coming from the protesting pro-lifers. They were singing and praying the rosary for the most part. Even those who disrupted the commencement were just calling out. So simmer down, Patty, your liberal underdrawers are showing.

As an alumna of Trinity I remember the kind of academic freedom I found in moral theology class when our "professor" engaged in brainwashing a classroom full of impressionable sophomores in situation ethics and moral relativism. We might as well have received our moral education at Woodstock. The values at Trinity in the 60s weren't much different. I remember the scandal of one of the psych professors who was engaging in hanky-panky with a classmate. Oh, those wonderful days of freedom from moral restraint. (Is that what you mean by "academic freedom," Patty?)

Sadly, Trinity has become a shill for liberal politics and politicians. The adulation of Nancy Pelosi, Kathleen Sebelius, and other pro-abortion alumnae overshadows any trace of token Catholicism still left. And there isn't much of that what with the gay pride group on campus and women's studies courses on gender.

Some alumnae have urged McGuire to take a position against pro-abortion alumnae, but she decries what she calls the "tactics of vilification, condemnation, and excommunication." Is this the same woman vilifying and condemning the protestors at Notre Dame? Tut-tut, Patty, that's hypocritical; what about tolerance and free speech? Your snarling words are pretty disingenuous. I understand you have a sign in your office that reads "Well Behaved Women Don't Make History." Apparently that only applies to dissenting Catholic women, not those willing to "misbehave" and risk arrest seeking justice for the unborn. You're pretty short-sighted though, Patty, those little unborn women grow up to be college coeds. It's in your interest to defend them.

Parents, don't send your daughters to Trinity unless you don't care about either their faith or their sexual orientation.

  1. "Well Behaved Women Don't Make History"

Yet, the greatest woman EVER to have lived uttered the words, "Be it done unto me according to thy word."

    Obedience? Yep, the heavenly way.

  2. It would have been much more effective to stay home and pray. Alan Keyes is just making a scene since he lost his bid to represent Illinois. In the past, it has often crossed my mind, is Fr. Jenkins a communist? I have no more doubt.

  3. Don't remember anyone mentioning Alan Keyes. And it's pretty silly to ascribe that kind of motive to Alan. He's been out there a long time and way before pretty boy Obama came prancing on the stage promising hope and change with an essentially zero record.

Alan has more conviction in his little finger than Obama has in his whole body. Too bad he didn't defeat Obama ... but it's hard to overcome Chicago corruption.
