SNAP = Scurrilous, Nasty, Avaricious and Pernicious. They Advocate for Themselves

Latest target of SNAP, a crime syndicate masquerading as a victim advocacy group!

SNAP [Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests] claims to be a victim advocacy group. What they really are is a corrupt organization best personified by an octopus. Their tentacles reach out to attach sticky pads to often innocent victims and suck them dry to fill up the SNAP treasure chests. Groups like this do not help real victims. In fact, they use victims as cover to gird themselves in a faux legitimacy, using the faces and stories of victims to fill their coffers. Perhaps we need a network for those abused by SNAP!

Bill Donohue's "Charity" is Mostly Himself

Yesterday I blogged about Bill Donohue's attack on those raising the alarm about Cardinal Wuerl's lavish digs on Embassy Row. Out of curiosity I checked Donohue's "charity," the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Right. Charity Navigator has a breakdown that is most enlightening. One hundred percent of the league's income is derived from contributions. Less than half of that goes to advance their agenda. Over 50% goes to administration and fundraising including a hunky chunk for Donohue's $417,000 salary.

Superman (er...Bill Donohue) Coming to Cardinal Wuerl's Rescue!

Bill Donohue has come out swinging at those criticizing Cardinal Wuerl and his $43 Million penthouse on Embassy Row. (See here.) In his article Donohue attacks George Neumayr who called Wuerl our own "bishop of bling" and says this about Christine Niles of ChurchMilitantTV:

Christine Niles...says "today’s archbishop of Washington owns a penthouse in a complex valued at $43 million." That is a lie. He owns not a centimeter of his third-floor "penthouse," an apartment that sits atop Our Lady Queen of the Americas parish. Like bishops all over the world, he resides in a spot that was specifically designed for the local Ordinary. There is nothing scandalous about this Church patrimony.

I'm with Mike Voris. Bill Donohue is Ridiculous!

I quit supporting the Catholic League long ago. Bill Donohue is embarrassing. I watched him once "debating' (or should I say berating) a pro-abort woman, perhaps Molly Yard, I don't really remember. But as he ranted and raved and interrupted her over and over I was embarrassed for him and thought what a horrible display it was. All I could think was how dumb he was not to send along the prettiest young pro-life woman he knew to confront the old, tired feminist. But Donohue seems to love the limelight as much as he dislikes the "piety police." 

Well, here he goes again on the attack, this time against good and faithful Catholics who are sick of betrayal as Voris so eloquently points out. Donohue deserves the criticism. There is absolutely no excuse for what Cardinal Dolan has done by inviting Obama to the Al Smith Dinner. It's shameful, and Donohue, with all his schmoozing with bishops, illustrates Mike's point about the Catholic elite vs. the Catholic peasants who don't have a seat at the table. Many bishops don't seem to care two hoots about the devastation to the faith on their watch. God forgive them. Pray for the bishops and, while your at it, say one for Bill Donohue. Pray he retires.
