Most homeowners don't need to worry about the termites a mile away, but when your own house is infested, well, that's a different story. Our Church is under invasion with dissenters and heretics backed by big money from anti-Catholics undermining the foundation. The sad thing is that the shepherds, those responsible to defend the sheep from the wolves, are often the biggest enablers of the destruction. Instead of exercising pest control, they offer pest incentives. How many Catholic dissenters have stints with the USCCB or diocesan chanceries in their curriculum vitae? Pray for the bishops.

High Fives to Bishop Peter Jugis of Charlotte
A big thank you to Bishop Peter Jugis who has had two large banner signs posted at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Charlotte just steps away from the location of the Democrats' Convention. Delegates won't be able to miss the signs as they pass to and fro going to convention events.
One banner faces The Legacy Village where the mayor of Charlotte will host a special event that, among other things, addresses the welfare of children and families.
Pray that these banners provoke a thoughtful response and an examination of conscience by convention participants. Frankly, I think a more likely scenario is that gays and pro-abortion delegates will go ballistic and that efforts will be made to deface them. It will be interesting to see what happens when the truth confronts those who prefer to have their ears tickled. Pray for the diocese of Charlotte during the convention, especially for protection against blasphemous acts and vandalism. For more click here.

Three-person civil union sparks controversy in Brazil
Once you accept same sex "unions" there is absolutely no logical reason to restrict the number of "partners." Shouldn't we apologize to the Mormons for outlawing polygamy? Not to worry, it will soon be returning. As for other combinations...whatever!

Billy Graham Speaks Out for Chick-fil-A
And he plans to join the "support Chick-fil-A" activity next Wednesday, August 1st. I'll be eating at the Chick-fil-A either in Winchester or Harrisonburg. Want to join me?
BIGGEST NAME IN CHRISTIANITY DEFENDS CHICK-FIL-A.
Lawyers also are coming to the defense of the business saying that public officials are opening themselves up to lawsuits for pledging to punish Chick-fil-A.
“These government officials ought to be ashamed. For a public official to threaten denial of a right to do business because the president of a private company supports natural marriage is the height of stupidity and intolerance,” said Mathew Staver, chief of Liberty Counsel...You know how this started right? Chick-fil-A was the victim of attack for daring to donate food to a conference defending the traditional family. The homosexuals won't tolerate anybody disagreeing with them. Meanwhile, they are backing out of the fray. After all, their purpose is to serve a good meal.
“There is absolutely no evidence that Chick-fil-A has discriminated against anyone,” Staver continued. “The intolerance displayed by these government officials ought to serve as a wakeup call to the majority of Americans who support the commonsense understanding of natural marriage.
“If given the chance, these intolerant officials would silence anyone who supports natural marriage. They have placed extreme ideology over freedom,” Staver said.
“To deny business permits or zoning approvals to Chick-fil-A because the president of the privately owned family business expressed his biblical view of natural marriage is outrageous. Any city trying to ban Chick-fil-A will not win this battle,” Staver said.

General Mills Goes Gay
General Mills came out of the closet this week at a gay pride event to shill for same-sex marriage. CEO Ken Peters claims it's necessary to keep their business competitive. Why this statement and why now? Minnesota has an amendment on the ballot in November upholding traditional marriage. In every state that's voted, the electorate chooses real marriage not the faux "let's play house" homosexual alternative.
How can a business that uses cartoon characters to convince families to buy their products for the kids believe that support for sodomite marriage is necessary and good for business? Frankly, I don't think they really do. Like other companies coming out for the gay agenda, there are probably upper level gay executives pushing for this. As for their move being good for business, well, you can be sure that no General Mills products will ever cross my doorstep again even when the house is full of grandkids. No, let the LGBT crowd stuff themselves on Trix, Count Chocula, Lucky Charms, Kix, Wheaties, and Cheerios. I'll miss my Wheat Chex, but will easily adapt to an alternative. Let's show General Mills that attacking the traditional family is not as good for business as their CEO thinks. And I have a suggestion for a new cereal, Goofballs, with Goofy on the box cover. Disney will probably happily make a deal for the Goofy rights. If not, General Mills can just use a photo of CEO Ken Peters. And for a list of General Mills other products, go here.

Marriage Matters to Kids
Society has a stake in marriage because of the children. The future of any nation depends on the strength of the family beginning with the marriage (a sacred covenant) of one man and one woman. Children need a mother and a father. Pass on this video and send your friends to Marriage Matters.

New York Legislature to Vote on Same Sex Marriage
I received the following email today from John Vennari of Catholic Family News and am passing it on. Many don't understand the ramifications of redefining the family. It will be sad if we all have to learn the hard way!
As many of you know, a vote on so-called same-sex "marriage" is scheuled for this week in New York. Here is a letter our own Dr. Bonnette quickly typed and sent to the NY Senate. Dr. Bonnette is a Thomistic philosopher who co-founded the Aquinas School of Philosophy with Dr. Raphael Waters. - jv
As a professional philosopher who taught at Niagara University for over 36 years, including many courses in ethics, I urge you to vote to preserve traditional marriage.
Calling a horse a cat does not make it a cat. Marriage is a natural institution which is the very foundation of our society. Redefining it will have massive impact on our nation, and must not be done in the haste of political polling or phone call inundations.
Against the alleged "right" of homosexuals to marry stands the inalienable and undoubted right of men and women to enter traditional marriage.
A right is not merely something we want. It is the moral power to fulfill an obligation. Procreation makes parents obligated to raise children, and hence gives them certain rights others do not share. It is because marriage is the natural institution which assures the continuation of society that society gives a special privilege to married couples in the form of marriage recognition. Homosexuals do not naturally procreate, and thus do not, by nature, merit this same privilege. Anyone can adopt, but that does not mean that they can enter a union which naturally gives rise to the next generation.
Homosexuals have the exact same rights as heterosexuals already, namely, the right to marry a person of the opposite sex. Thus the traditional institution in no way violates laws against descrimination.
If you fail to protect traditional marriage, a new and coercive form of descrimination will befall those whose consciences cannot condone homosexual acts, even though they may love people who happen to be homosexual. Then it will be too late to protect the conscience rights of the majority who do not personally approve of this behavior.
Please do not betray your oath to preserve and protect New York society. Vote no on same sex marriage.
Dennis Bonnette, Ph.D.

Sodomy is not a Civil Right; Defending Traditional Marriage is not Hate

Marriage is both a civil and religious issue. All civilizations have protected marriage between a man and a woman. Why? Because it's the safest and healthiest place to raise the next generation upon which survival of the culture depends. The traditional nuclear family is the basic building block of society. The breakdown of the family through divorce and cohabitation has already taken a serious toll on the culture. Just ask teachers in the classroom. When I taught fourth grade, about a third of my students came from dysfunctional homes and the impact on the classroom was serious. It's hard to learn when you are angry that Dad abandoned you and Mom is shacking up with a boyfriend. How is redefining civil marriage to be whatever one says it is going to help? Caligula married his sister; polygamy was common in many pagan cultures. Once you redefine marriage, what possible limit can you put on it? Is the solution to the breakdown of the family to shoot another arrow into its weakly-beating heart? What insanity!
The fight over homosexual marriage will continue as those who want to see the United States survive as "one nation under God" fight for the truth. Same sex couples began to "marry" in Connecticut a few days ago and in California gays attacked the Mormon Church for its support of Proposition 8. The homosexual propaganda machine says marriage is a civil right and cannot be denied to same sex couples. Nonsense! In other words, they equate their right to bugger one another and engage in mutual masturbation with marital intercourse, the unitive and procreative love of husband and wife for the good of each other, children of the union, and society. Homosexuals also equate defending traditional marriage with supporting slavery and segregation. Then they attack their critics as hatemongers who want to murder gays, a strategy called "jamming." It's a brilliant maneuver if they can pull it off, and they may. I have yet to see a reporter challenge their claim to marriage as a civil right. And sadly, there may be enough dumbbells in America to swallow the camel.
There is no civil right for gays to marry. Homosexuals can't be mothers and lesbians can't be fathers because they don't have the right body parts. Same-sex couples can't "marry" because the nature of marriage requires two bodies that fit together for the procreation of children which is a societal good. As for love, homosexuals haven't got a clue about it. Love wills the good of the other. Read the obituaries in gay newspapers and take a look at the perverted behavior at the Folsom Street Fair and other obscene gay pride parades. AIDS didn't come from nowhere, but from filthy practices that threaten your life. Lust and perversion are not love. The tactics being used by homosexual activists are as deliberate as they are deceitful. You can read about them in my article Sodomizing the Culture: Creating a Gay America.
No civilization, even the most depraved, has ever recognized homosexual sodomy as "marriage." But plenty of cultures have collapsed because they embraced sexual immorality and the murder of the innocent. The culture of death has a stranglehold on America and the barbarians are within the city destroying her foundations. Is it too late to save our beloved country? No, but it will take a miracle of grace. Pray the rosary and ask Our Lady of America to raise up young people to evangelize for purity and restore our country to sanity. St. Philomena, little apostle of purity, pray for us.

The Village it takes to Raise a Child is the Traditional Extended Family!

Proposition 8 upholding traditional marriage, on the ballot in California, is a bellweather issue. The building block of every civilized country is the nuclear family. The family begins with the protection of marriage, a commitment of a man and woman to one another for life for the sake of the children born to the union and for their own growth in love. Pray that Proposition 8 passes.
One encouraging sign is its support by young people at American River College in Sacramento which is the largest community college in the state of California. California Catholic posted an article today about the effort to recall nine student council members because they endorsed Proposition 8. The student body soundly defeated the resolution. Kids who've grown up in solid families know that's the best place for kids. Those who've grown up in broken and dysfunctional families have the life experience to know what doesn't work. Pray for Proposition 8, for the protection of the American family, and for our poor, pitiful country. Homosexual activists have a very different plan for America than most people realize. Read Sodomizing the Culture for a wake-up call. Or go to my previous post, Same-sex Marriage and What it Means for Your Family. And vote for the traditional family on November 4th by supporting McCain/Palin. Not only does Barack Obama attack the most vulnerable member of the human family, the unborn, but he is a big supporter of same-sex "marriage," an abomination in the eyes of God. Lord Jesus, save us.

Brainwashing First Graders in California

Gays in California are working hard to sink Proposition 8, the defend traditional marriage bill. They call arguments that homosexuality will be taught to little ones in elementary school a scare tactic. Well folks, wake up and smell the coffee. Earlier this month 18 first-graders from the Creative Arts Charter School, a public school in San Francisco were taken to the lesbian "wedding" of their teacher at City Hall. Mayor Gavin Newsom who marches in gay parades and supports the gay orgy called the Folsom Street Fair (warning: graphic photos) officiated. The Protect Marriage organization supporting Proposition 8 sent out a press release alerting parents of what's coming. But will it matter? Only two parents opted their children out of this "field trip" to celebrate perversion where the innocent babies tossed rose petals and blew bubbles.
Little ones love their teachers. It's long overdue for parents to realize that the perverted public school system is beyond repair. Let the teacher your children love be you. Home school or send your children to a good private Catholic school.
I recommend Holy Family in Manassas Virginia for those fortunate enough to live nearby. They are sponsoring a fundraiser with Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz. I've printed their ad for the event below. Support faithful independent Catholic schools. They are a lifeline for families.
"Come and Enjoy a Festive Evening with Bishop Bruskewitz of Nebraska...to be held at the Officers' Club at Ft. Belvoir on Sunday, November 9 at 5:00 pm. The dinner will benefit the building of the St. Pio Chapel for Holy Family Academy. The evening will include dinner, a talk from the Bishop and the Holy Family Choir. Cost is $100 per seat or $150 per couple. Register through saintpiochapel@gmail.com or call Sue Francis at 703-830-2135."
