Steven Brigham: Exposing the myth of "safe and legal" abortion

I blogged about abortionist Steven Brigham last month. He's a butcher with a chain of abortion mills in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and New York.  It came to my attention this week that he also owns  facilities in Virginia, one in my old county of residence, Fairfax.

Brigham's license was revoked in New York in 1994 for gross negligence and his appeal of the decision was denied. To read the complaint and the medical board's decision including a detailed description of the damage done to two women through laceration of the cervix, perforation of the uterus, and other serious injuries go here.  Warning: it's not for the faint of heart. One patient required 7 units of blood after being admitted to the hospital.

Lest you think Brigham has learned his lesson, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported last month that he had been ordered to close his four Pennyslvania abortion mills for employing unlicensed care givers. There have also been complaints about his filthy facilities and his failure to follow even minimal standards of medical care. Brigham's negligence is well documented. Go here. He also is a tax evader and owes over $200,000 in back payroll taxes in Pennsylvania.

Brigham has a slick website advertising his American Women's Services chain. Among the many mills on the site are the two in Virginia: the one in Fairfax and another in Virginia Beach. What's not advertised on the website is his history of being on the wrong side of the the law and his consistent medical malpractice. And the only thing unusual about this abortionist is the degree of his malfeasance. Anyone who's done sidewalk counseling has run into many cases of abortion malpractice. Let's face it. Abortion attracts the bottom feeders. Steven Brigham is a graphic example, but he has plenty of company.

When the Back Alley Butcher Operates on Main Street

The mantra of the "pro-choice" movement is that they want abortion to be safe, legal, and rare. We can probably all agree that, yes, they want abortion-on-demand legal for all nine months of pregnancy. The other two claims, safe and rare, are not so obvious, and, in fact, all the evidence illustrates just the opposite.

Let's take the safety issue and the case of an abortionist who is well known for butchering women and operating facilties that maim women while they kill their babies. Steven C. Brigham has had his medical license revoked or suspended in five states. But that doesn't seem to bother him or slow him down a bit. He operates 15 abortion mills in four states: Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York.

The Pennsylvania Health Department recently ordered Brigham to close his four facilities in that state for numerous violations that endanger the lives and health of women. Among his unsafe practices is hiring unqualified and unlicensed employees. But so far Brigham has thumbed his nose at Pennsylvania's decision. The mills, located in Allentown, Erie, Pittsburgh, and State College,.remain open even though he has no medical license to practice in the state.

Will Pennsylvania enforce its action against Brigham and close his abortion mills? With enough public pressure probably. Operation Rescue posted an article (linked below) with a message to take action:

More trouble for abortion doctor, this time in Pennsylvania

Sen. Frank Lautenberg Attacks Pro-Lifers: They Don't Deserve the Protection of the Constitution!

Sen. Frank Lautenberg plays the game that Planned Parenthood is about something besides abortion, their primary business. Then he declares that pro-lifers and tea party activists don't deserve the protections of the Constitution. Yup, murdering babies is protected but those who defend babies "don't deserve" Constitutional rights. This is the voice of "pro-choice" which only respects one choice -- theirs and expects you to pay for it no matter how abhorrent. New Jersey, send this man home the next time he's up for reelection.

Troy Newman of Operation Rescue made the following statement concerning Lautenberg's offensive remarks:

Sen. Lautenberg wishes that he could disenfranchise pro-life supporters, which comprise the majority of the American people, and turn them into second-class citizens based on their deeply held religious and moral convictions. His remarks are unconscionable and offensive, not to mention extremely inappropriate for a United States Senator who has been entrusted with looking to the best interests of the people.

We find Lautenberg's remarks highly hypocritical since his state of New Jersey is home to the notorious illegal late-term abortionist Steven Chase Brigham, who recently had his license to practice medicine suspended after he was caught operating an illegal bi-state late-term abortion racket. Let us not forget that the bodies of 35 late-term babies were discovered at Brigham's illegal abortion clinic and that he remains the subject of a murder investigation. New Jersey is also the home of the Planned Parenthood office where an employee was recently caught on tape aiding and abetting the concealment of sex trafficking.

Perhaps Lautenberg should spend more time actually protecting the public from predatory abortionists in his home state instead of wishing to strip precious Constitutional rights from those who do work to protect women and their innocent babies. While Lautenberg prattles on in support of those who exploit women at tax-payer expense, women and their babies remain at risk in Lautenberg's state from unscrupulous abortion clinics like Brigham's and Planned Parenthood.

Abortion Mill Butchers: Safe Legal Abortion is a Myth!

The pro-aborts talk a lot about "safe, legal abortion," but have always opposed any restrictions on abortionists even to protect the mothers. In recent days, it's become more and more obvious that abortion is a business loaded with bottom-feeding butchers who not only don't mind killing babies, but their moms as well. Here's a sampling of these "humanitarians" who are so loved by Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc. Note that because abortion is unrestricted and the abortion movement fights regulation of any kind that unlicensed butchers, like Bertha Bugarin, can thrive. The back alley operates on main street with the complicity of the abortion movement that has never cared about the safety of women. "Safe, legal abortion" is a myth! And here's just a sample from the rogues' gallery of the abortion movement. But what can you expect? Anyone who is willing to kill a helpless baby, would hardly blanch at any other atrocity.
