Will the prosecutors go for a new trial for Lindsay Clancy or will she receive a get-out-of-jail free card, spend a few years (if that) in a mental facility, and then be declared "cured" and released. Would you trust her to babysit for your kids?
The discrepancy between the two Go-Fund-Me pages for Pierce vs. Clancy is shocking. Clancy's is over a million. The fund for the Pierce family just over $219,000.
What does this say about our culture? Nothing good! Clancy has been labeled the poor victim, the drugs made her do it. The fact that she was a nurse who should have realized the danger of mixing all those drugs has been swept under the rug. As for the suicide attempt? She had to know the superficial cuts wouldn't do it. And all those pills? Did she really take them?
Poor Lindsay, we're told, is the victim of the therapists' negligence. She bears no responsibility at all despite the brutal murder of her three children not carried out in a frenzy but in a systematic way beginning with the child likely to be the most difficult. Visualize the struggle with that poor little five-year-old, Cora.
The default position for Lindsay is sympathy, buckets of cash, and a tsunami of excuses and rationalizations for her deeds. She, not her children, is the victim according to the raging women defending her. Bonnie Pierce, on the other hand, was just a fool. Run back into a burning house to save her toddler? What was she thinking? Her heroic act is a ho-hum. Not, however, for the little one who is expected to recover completely because of her mom's courage. I thank God for that brave mom who demonstrated not only a mom's love, but Christ's for the least ones. Let us sing her praises to the skies and donate to the Go-Fund-Me page for her family.
What is going on in our culture?
I think the answer is relatively easy to find. We live in the culture of death on steroids. Women have demanded the "right" to kill their children for decades, now up to and even after birth. Why should anyone be surprised by Clancy taking it to the next horizon. The already born have been in the crosshairs for years. Assisted suicide turns doctors into executioners. And now they want to perform the act through organ donation. Hey! If you want to kill yourself go for it, but don't waste those precious organs that bring so much money to doctors and hospitals. It's such a generous act and recycling is good for the earth! So why not let moms kill their babies by offering them for organ harvest? Will we see it? Would you be surprised?
What's next for Clancy? I hope she is retried and found guilty. If she pleads insanity let it be guilty by criminal insanity with life in a prison mental institution. And then pray that she has a conversion. God forgives those who are truly sorry. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't receive the consequences of their actions. Those little ones deserve justice.
As for the jury, the not guilty voters are talking to the media and attacking the lone male who voted guilty. They claim he said he had reasonable doubt at one point and that when challenged to explain the evidence that made him vote guilty he couldn't. Since he hasn't spoken out who knows how accurately the jury conversations are being reported? Maybe he just clammed up because of being the center of an 11-person attack, not to mention the truly arrogant defense attorney, Kevin Reddington.
Padre Peregrino on his substack account talks about five things Catholics are missing about the trial: 1) jury intimidation. That poor holdout certainly was getting the mailed fist in the jury room not to mention from the defense attorney. 2) subjective claims taking precedence over objective fact. We don't know what was going on in Clancy's head, but we know for sure she committed three murders in a very ordered and systematic way. 3) Feminism and modernism have affected the judicial system which is being guided by emotions rather than rationality. 4) Insanity cannot overrule free will. Even a possessed person can live a holy life. "Traditional Catholic morality here is really basic: You're responsible before God for the things you chose to do in your body, regardless of how your emotions excused you." 5) There's not enough outrage among Catholics for abortion vs. infanticide. I completely agree. Most Catholics don't really believe the baby has equal value to the rest of us. Father uses the opposition to abortion center rescue activities as proof. As a rescuer who has supported the Red Rose Rescues, I rejoice in his participation as well as that of Fr. Fidelis. We need more priests willing to be arrested to save the least of God's little ones. There is plenty of evidence that Clancy knew what she was doing, planned it with premeditation, and was play-acting with her suicide attempt. She was a nurse for goodness sake. If you want to kill yourself by slashing your wrists it's easy to do. I'm sorry for her as I'm sorry for all unrepentant sinners. But if she had an ounce of integrity and sorrow, she would have pled guilty like St. Paul and taken the consequences.
