If you want to find out who the traitorous priest and his institution are, watch the CIA episode. I think I know, but I haven't seen it yet so I'll keep mum. Go here to watch.
(disclaimer: this is *not* a rash judgment towards the person mentioned below and the state of his soul - or the current situation at the university in question)
I believe the CIA video is about Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, former president of the University of Notre Dame.
He was the one who orchestrated the now infamous "Land-O-Lakes" (a retreat center[?] up in Wisconsin owned by UND) agreement with other Catholic University presidents to essentially "divorce" their universities from the Magisterium of the Church under the specious auspices of "academic freedom."
By doing this, ND was able to garner federal funding. Of course, many moral issues were the first to be compromised in the classroom at the university (most especially, the Church's teaching on contraception).
Now, again, not every theologian teaching at ND compromised in such matters. There were more than a few who would not (MacInerny and Rice come to mind).
It did, however, open the door for much confusion for students who attended there (a fine friend of mine who graduated from ND in the early 80's is a casualty - he does not practice his Catholic faith).
I have read so many books on this topic Mary Ann - it is almost enough to make me despair.
I would be willing to bet that Hesburgh is one of the thousands of seminarians that former Communist agent, Bella Dodd, admittedly recruited to ruin our Church. http://genus.cogia.net/
I guessed it immediately - and I didn't peek!
ReplyDeleteWithout watching the video - I will make a guess:
