The Proverbial Excrement Hits the Fan and the Seamless Papal Garment!

Oh my! Leo has done it for sure this time. Even the traditional voices that have been
defending him ad nauseum and ridiculing anyone who saw the writing on the wall are now coming out of their shells. Why? Because Leo dragged the seamless garment out of the closet to defend his wolfish friend Blase Cupich for giving Senator Dick Durbin a lifetime achievement award for his work on immigration.

Durbin, as any pro-life Catholic (I know that should be a redundancy, but sadly it's not.) can tell you, is an abortion advocate who is "personally opposed" but thinks others should be able to murder their unborn infants at will. Of course that's the Democrats' mantra. They aren't really pro-abortion; they are "pro-choice." Well, sometimes...They aren't pro-choice for those Americans living on the border facing first hand the violence of illegal invaders. The drug cartels kill a rancher? Hey, they weren't welcoming the stranger so they deserved it.

At any rate, back to Leo. His statement on Durbin was scandalous and shameful. Killing babies? That's just one issue among many. Here's what the pope said:

Pope Leo has revealed himself as one more seamless garment champion cut from the same cloth as Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. I am tempted to ask, "Can anything good come out of Chicago?" That he has now provided cover to every pro-abortion politician in the U.S. is clear. Those of us who recognize the justification for capital punishment, something the Church has taught for millennia, and those of us who support removing illegals from our country are not pro-life according to Leo.

So the slander goes on, but the smile continues -- not a smile for those of us who've spent a lifetime defending the unborn, but for the Dick Durbins, Ted Kennedys, and Nancy Pelosis of the world. The spurious comparison of abortion to capital punishment angers me. Every criminal gets a judge and jury, a defense, and many appeals. The babies get the scalpel and suction machine with no defense, no appeal, no voice but the pro-life advocates desperate to save their lives.

Senator Durbin expressed how "overwhelmed" he was by the pope's support. He has refused the award because of the controversy, but he responded to the media about Leo's comments:
It is amazing to me. It’s quite a moment. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t know it was gonna happen.

Quite a moment indeed! Pope Leo threw God's littlest ones to the wolves to defend a man who enables their murders. Defend the pope if you will. As a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother I can't. He eviscerated the term pro-life.

Chris Jackson at Hiraeth in Exile has called out Trad Inc. for their silence over all the previous warning signs that Leo is a disaster in the mold of Francis. I have been so disgusted by the vitriol at Remnant TV that I rarely go there any anymore. Leo has done more than scandalize, he has divided his opposition. Maybe that's what it's all about. Can we really re-unite the clans? Perhaps, but I think Jackson is right when he says:

The real betrayal is that traditional media kept their readers from seeing it coming. They knew. They hid it. They mocked those who spoke up.
As I wrote back in May:
“Some of us still believe doctrine matters more than dress. Some of us remember that the Church is not saved by aesthetics but by truth.”
If you had been reading Hiraeth in Exile back then, you wouldn’t be shocked now. You would have seen this coming all along. That is the seamless betrayal.

Let's hope these folks have now found their voice. Holy Mother Church is being held hostage by the enemies of Christ who said, "Whatever you do to the least of these little ones, you do it to Me." Let us re-unite and work together to defend the one true faith.

  1. It's time to throw away pro-life and become anti-abortion. Pro-life was too milk-toast squishy anyway

    1. The problem with that is it limits what the pro-life movement actually is and does. When I worked at a crisis pregnancy center we didn't just try to end abortion by getting moms to choose life. We provided all kinds of material care: clothing (up to age five), diapers, cribs, carseats, strollers. We tried to provide what was desperately needed. Sometimes we found housing for moms in crisis, paid rent and electric bills. You name a need; we did all we could to help. We also counseled post abortion women and often referred them to Project Rachel. We followed up with clients and tried to provide emotional support. That is much more than being "anti-abortion" which is the accusation always leveled against the pro-life movement. "You only care about the women until they give birth." NEVER TRUE! My husband and I attended the wedding of one of the older children of a client whose saved baby was five years old at the time. Some of my pro-life friends became godparents of saved babies. We truly are a PRO-LIFE movement from womb to tomb. The pro-life movement also fights for the vulnerable sick, handicapped, and elderly.

    2. I was too flippant. You have much greater experience than me. I don't know what the solution is but I know the seamless garment is wrong and a tool of villains

    3. We wouldn't need to provide so much crisis pregnancy assistance if abortion were abolished because then people would think and weigh options before having sex.... That's where "choice" belongs!

I would compare your "pro-life" approach to a "pro freedom" organization trying to teach slaves to read before slavery would be abolished. Nice, but after decades and decades of incrementalism and entrenchment maybe we should just abolish the damn slavery! Same with abortion.

    4. You've made numerous comments on my blog that imply you could end abortion immediately if only you were in charge. From this comment, it appears you think helping women in crisis is a waste of time. How would you end abortion? Go to war? You defend the civil war to end slavery. Do you favor shooting abortionists? And what exactly are you doing to "abolish the damn" abortion? You remind me of the folks who used to come to the abortion business infrequently. I was there every week sidewalk counseling for several hours to meet the women going in and offer help. The occasional lady told me I should be there until they all left. My response? "I will never do nothing because I can't do everything." Pretty much nothing was what she did.

  2. We should not have to go to war to abolish abortion, slavery's twin. We already fought the civil war to abolish slavery and vindicate the words of the declaration of Independence, which apply equally to abortion.
Dobbs fumbled the ball (intentionally?) by asserting states had the right to alienate the right to life. Doubling down on Dobbs, Trump raped the GOP platform of its promise to abolish abortion as it had abolished slavery.
Clearly, abortion is an essential tool for sex trafficking and for IVF (frankentube) both of which associate with Trump. We should recognize the fact that Trump lied when he said he was pro-life, and that his history shows he was a trojan horse into the GOP.
I do not believe this is a just war to fight physically but we need to wean people off President quack speed to move forward.
We should honor Charlie by releasing the Epstein files, one of his last wishes.
    Happy C-day! (For "created equal"...Declaration 250 minus 9 months!)

    1. You lost me at "abortion, slavery's twin." Abortion's twin is euthanasia. It's triplet is abortion, euthanasia, and deliberate murder. I don't recall any evidence that slaves had their bodies ripped limb from limb and their heads decapitated. I don't recall anyone stabbing them in the heart or putting them in a barrel of water filled with acid to burn off all their skin. Did any of them get stabbed in the neck and have their brains sucked out. Your Trump derangement syndrome is pathetic. Have we had a president in the past fifty years who was 100% pro-life? No! And some of the greatest enemies of the pro-life movement weren't politicians but popes and bishops like Francis, Bernardin, Cupich, McElroy, McCarrick,, Wuerl, etc. I remember when the USCCB pro-life committee head, Msgr. James McHugh, cut the personhood amendment off at the knees. You can rail against Trump all you want. I suppose you think Harris was a better alternative. You need a reality check.
