So How Will You Vote in the Midterms?

The TDS crowd is in full rage mode going into the midterms. Even though Trump isn't on the ballot, he's being used to claim that the only moral choice is to vote Democrat. One young person with whom I engaged claimed she cares about character and Democrats obviously show much more character than Republicans who only care about giving tax breaks to the rich. She would never have an abortion herself, but doesn't want to limit "health care" for other women. Oh, and ICE is "killing many Americans" (32 in 2025). How many babies were killed in 2025? The Guttmacher Institute, research arm of Planned Parenthood estimates 1,124,000 clinic abortions and tens of thousands of others by tel-med where women abort alone without medical supervision.  But hey! That's reproductive health care!

I had to laugh a bit ruefully after my engagement. Who among the Democrats illustrates character? Eric Swalwell who slept with a Chinese spy and has cheated on his wife multiple times? How about Nancy Pelosi who increased her wealth through insider training? Bill and Hillary Clinton surely are paragons of virtue and service to the poor, right? Politics has proved incredibly lucrative for the former president famous for the blue dress and preying on women. And Hillary? Do I have to say anything? Then there's Ilhan Omar who became a multi-millionaire since entering Congress and AOC who's also made a financial killing. Do they work to reduce taxes on the middle class? Maxine Waters and many other Democrats use inflammatory rhetoric telling their followers to get in the faces of those who disagree with their policies including any American who dares to wear a MAGA hat or pro-life T-shirt. Attack them at the gas station, restaurants and movie theaters. Their assaults against ICE and other law enforcement have been well-documented with organized attacks on federal property, detention centers, etc. They've doxxed ICE agents endangering them and their families with many Democrats nodding in approval like bobble-head dolls. The latest doxxing is against the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy trial. One black, female Democrat talking head expressed amazement that a black would escape the Democrat plantation and be a Republican.

What does the Democrat party actually stand for? (There's a definite distinction between the party and individual Democrats some of whom still think it's grandpa's party.)

• abortion on demand with no restrictions -- Look at the states that allow abortion up til birth vs. those protecting the unborn. Red and blue couldn't be more obvious.
• protecting the "trans rights" of biological men to compete against women in sports and use women's locker room and restrooms often exposing themselves to little girls. Recently every Democrat "skipped or walked out" of a Judiciary committee meeting to avoid listening to testimony by women discriminated against by this Democrat policy. Not only that, the party endorses "transitioning," i.e. the mutilating children who are often convinced by unethical adults that they're in the wrong body. Parents are guilted with the question, "Would you rather have a living son or a dead daughter?) Here's what Factually says about Democrat LGBTQ policies:

1. What Democrats claim they will deliver on LGBTQ rights — A clear, broad agenda

The Democratic platform and party statements present a comprehensive policy package that extends beyond marriage equality to systemic protections and services: federal nondiscrimination via the Equality Act, restoring nondiscrimination in health care and explicitly covering gender‑affirming treatments in public plans, aggressively addressing HIV/AIDS with prevention and treatment funding, reforming blood‑donation rules, protecting LGBTQ parents in adoption and foster care, banning conversion therapy, and strengthening hate‑crime enforcement and support for homeless LGBTQ youth [1] [2]. The platform also pledges to reverse prior administration rules restricting transgender care, ensure accurate gender markers on IDs, restore military service rights, and advance international LGBTQ rights through diplomatic tools like the GLOBE Act. These policy planks show the party treating LGBTQ rights as intersecting civil‑rights, health, family, and foreign‑policy issues rather than a single‑issue position [1] [4].

• Democrats claim to give tax relief to the middle class. Tell that to me and my fellow Virginians, not to mention the state of Maryland whose governor never met a tax hike he wouldn't support. Virginia Democrats proposed 50 new taxes in 2026 including an increased sales tax on services like dry cleaning, dog walking, gym membership, and others that will increase consumer costs for all of us, not just the rich! And then there are the other tax-hungry Democrat states. New York City under Momdani will be putting many small businesses in bankruptcy court. The latest are the mom and pop grocery stores. [Source] Are those the "rich corporations" that deserve to be max-taxed?

• As for taxes, red states in general have a lower tax burden than blue states. The canard that Republicans favor the rich is a mindless meme infecting many ignorant people. Compare the tax burden between red vs. blue states here. And consider that many people work for corporations. When you impose more taxes on these corporations what happens? They pass it on to consumers. Not only that, but they leave states that impose draconian tax burdens. California is among the worst and companies are fleeing. New York as well. Keep in mind that "rich" corporations employ millions of workers across the country. What happens to their employees when they close or move? Most of the corporations fleeing California are relocating to Texas. 

I've gone on long enough. I'm beginning to think there should be an intelligence test for voting. Frankly, I expect the midterms to be a rout. Many will just fill in the box or pull the lever for Democrats while knowing very little about what they are supporting. I doubt if many Democrats are malicious advocates of child-killing, transgender mutilation, etc. You can sin either out of malice or ignorance. I hope most of those voting for Democrats are ignorant. May the Holy Spirit enlighten all of us as we prepare to exercise the obligation to vote. Voting for Democrats means attacking the common good beginning with the protection of God's most vulnerable little ones. May God have mercy on our poor country.
