As Scripture says, "Love of money is the root of all evil." There is so much money in war. Is it any wonder that the default position of many in government is endless war? That isn't what the Founding Fathers envisioned. In fact, James Madison, often called the Father of the Constitution, considered war the greatest enemy. "No nation," he said, "could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." Haven't war and terrorism been the twins used to reduce our freedoms? The Patriot Act after 9/11 is a 342 page document expanding activities of the FBI and CIA. It violates many of the rights articulated in the Bill of Rights. Are we really willing to trade our freedom for a false feeling of safety?

History is a great teacher if people will learn her lessons. Tyrants often create crises in order to justify draconian action. The Reichstag fire blamed on Communists was the Nazis excuse to impose draconian measures on their own people prior to WW II. Historians still argue about whether the Nazis themselves set the fire. There is a theory of manufactured crisis called the Cloward-Piven Strategy developed by a husband-wife pair of Columbia University professors who were radical socialists. They first presented it in The Nation  in 1966. It called for expanding the welfare state to overload the system to the point of bankruptcy and collapse. And it was very successful in using the poor as cogs in the attack on capitalism. It's interesting that Obama recently undermined the work requirement for welfare recipients and the administration is recruiting more food stamp recipients. He is the poster boy for the Cloward-Piven Strategy to take America down a peg by overwhelming the system.

But there's a serious possibility here. If the economy collapses and food distribution is interrupted what happens? Martial law? And why is the government stocking up on bullets? Every freedom-loving American should be asking questions and our representatives in Congress should be at the forefront. Why is the government stocking up on all this deadly ammo and against whom do they intend to use it?

Big Brother government is on a rampage against super-sized sodas -- at least in New York City where obesity is a serious problem.. No doubt you've read about Mayor Bloomberg's effort to make it illegal for fast food establishments and street vendors to sell sodas larger than eight ounces.

I wish I could say this was a joke, but he's really serious. This is the same city that was going to outlaw salt added to restaurant food. (Did that goofy law pass? Anyone? Anyone?) Well, we all know that obesity is a BiiiiiiiiG problem and the government is busy making plans to send the SWAT team to in to raid the pantry.

What is it with liberals anyway? They talk about being pro-choice, but want to eliminate everybody's right to choose their own junk food. Does anyone really believe that a law banning super-sized sodas will change the eating habits of the obese? Dream on! And here's what the view of this nonsense is from the U.K. calling it a "whiff of liberal fascism." Yup, that about sums it up.

You may think this doesn't matter because you still have a job and can afford the good things of life. Wait until hyper-inflation hits and your salary will buy only 50% of what it could in the past. The writing is on the wall, folks. Government can't fix the problem; it is the problem. Vote for those who want to limit government.

Stop! Don't Eat that Hot Dog!

Please, tell us it's a joke. According to an editorial in the Washington Times, the government has a new safe-sandwich project underway. Hot dogs!

A handful of children die from choking on hot dogs every year, so the government is about to regulate a new safer shape to prevent choking. Of course grapes are at least as big a culprit so maybe they will regulate grape vines. And since some children drown in the ocean, perhaps the government can pass a safe-wave law as well. Heck, while we're at it, why not a law against eating grapes and hot dogs altogether and make it illegal for any non-swimmer to be on the beach. We can create a new Department of Safety and bring all the safety rules under its purview. They can regulate the size of Mom's apple slices at home and ban peanuts and peanut butter. After all, some kids have allergies and you never know when a visiting child might raid the pantry and get into the killer peanut butter. No doubt the new department will have visiting home-safety agents to make sure that at-risk families comply with all safety laws and regulations. 

It's mid-morning and, no doubt, you have probably broken six or eight laws that you don't even know about. A tyrannical government makes as many laws as possible and then selectively prosecutes. Everybody is guilty of something, after all, so it's just a question of scheduling the trial. Welcome to Kafka-land where bureaucrats rule and the people wonder what they did to deserve the latest government restriction on their choices.

We Brewed a Fine Tea Party in Washington Today

Tea Party time. T.E.A. stands for taxed enough already and hundreds of thousands, if not a million plus, converged on Washington today to send that message loud and clear!



I attended with two friends and what an experience! The crowd was immense! There were NO groups handing out pre-printed identical signs like you see at all the Obama rallies. There were tens of thousands of individual homemade ones on white and colored poster board, project boards, and fiberboard. Entrepreneurs sold T-shirts, caps, flags, and food. There were messages printed on umbrellas and balloons and even a beach ball that was being bounced around in the crowd. We saw Nancy Pelosi with a Pinocchio nose and Barack Obama dressed like a third-world dictator. There were signs that read, "YOU LIE" and others that said "Don't mess with my health care." One little boy had a sign that read, "Please save my piggy bank." People wore stickers like "Abortion is not health care" and "Tea Party: taxed enough already." The message shirts and caps were everywhere: "Go Green: Recycle Congress." "Live Free or Die." It was a red, white, and blue patriots' day.

We saw George Washington several times (sometimes stocky, sometimes slim), Betsy Ross, the grim reaper and a skeleton being pushed in a wheelchair with a sign that said, "My operation is scheduled for next year." The crowd was filled with young and old and in-between: moms pushing strollers, older folks and the handicapped in wheelchairs, and lots and lots of young people - teens to twenty somethings. While it was primarily a white crowd, there were a large number of minorities: blacks, Hispanics, orientals all coming together. One photo posted on the Internet showed a couple with a sign reading, "Russian refugees against socialism." On the way back to the metro we overheard a gentleman commenting on the diversity of the crowd. Yes indeed. And one of the things most noticeable was the cheerful, gracious, and friendly attitude of everyone there. It was certainly a party -- and one that illustrated the unflappable optimism of Americans who believe we, the people can take back our country from liberal socialists.

We made our way (slowly) through the crowd which stretched from the Capitol back to the Washington Monument and filled both sides of the Capitol as well. It was slow going but people were courteous, didn't push or shove. The whole crowd exuded good will and patriotism. It was an exhilarating experience! Everywhere we looked we saw Old Glory flanked by the yellow "Don't tread on me" flag, Virginia's Sic Semper Tyrannis as well as state flags from as far away as Texas. We spoke to a bunch of folks from Cleveland resting on the grass at the Vienna Metro waiting for their bus and saw another group from Tennessee. We talked to a couple from North Carolina and two students from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio whose economics teacher told them about the march.

We left the Shenandoah Valley at 8:30 a.m. and parked at the Vienna Metro Station at 10:00. The line was so long we didn't get on the train until almost 11:30. There were still hundreds lined up behind us. When we got to D.C. and were walking toward the rally around 12:30, we met early birds already leaving. But after we reached the Capitol, people were still coming for several hours. So who knows how many actually attended the rally? It was immense! What was Metro's ridership? The trains were jammed!

This was absolutely a grassroots effort. Many people we spoke to had never engaged in anything political before. Clearly the Obama threat to transform America into a Marxist nation has roused the sleeping giant.

Are you registered to vote? If not do it on Monday and get out and work for a conservative. Promise yourself NEVER to vote for a liberal no matter what party he calls home. Vote conservative and if you don't know what that means read Russell Kirk.

ACORN: These Nuts are Involved in the Census?

The latest ACORN scandal involves Baltimore ACORN's tax advisor telling a woman she thought was a hooker and her pimp, actually undercover investigators, how to set up a brothel as a legal business. The adviser doesn't even flinch when the pimp says they are bringing in little girls from El Salvador as young as 14 to "man" the business. How should they handle them? "You can always claim them as dependents," is her advice about the planned abuse. When the pimp says the girls will be turning tricks, she tells them not to report the income because in the state of Maryland it is illegal to work under 16. "If nobody is telling it," she says, "they don't even exist." So much for child sexual abuse.

The two ACORN flunkies have been fired, but does anyone believe this isn't typical of ACORN? Their record is fraud at every level and now add enabling child abuse.

In light of this latest scandal, inquiring minds want to know - What exactly is ACORN's role in the 2010 census? They are listed as a "partner" with the census bureau. Will they be "organizing" their people to take census jobs? Will the census worker who knocks on your door be an ACORN flunky?

"Why does it matter anyway?" you ask. They only have to count. Nope, the census is used politically so its non-partisan integrity is crucial as the Washington Times editorial below points out. "The allocation of seats in Congress, and ultimately questions of who controls it, depend on an accurate count. Much of the money Congress spends is allocated based on the census. Requiring that the census be non-partisan is the first requirement that must be met."

Hold the administration accountable. Obama gave ACORN $800,000 during his campaign to register voters and ACORN fraud was rampant all over the country. Who is calling for ACORN's involvement in the census? The administration tried to put the census under White House control. Do you actually believe Obama has given up attempts to manipulate it? It's time for a serious investigation and not by the foxes guarding the henhouse!

A "Government Commissioner" may decide your health care!

Another little-noticed provision of the health care behemoth gives Big Brother sweeping new authority under the guise of a "Health Care Commissioner." Read the complete article.

The Health Choices Commissioner would establish “the benefits to be made available under Exchange-participating health benefit plans during each plan year,” according to page 84 of the 1,018-page bill. That means the commissioner would determine what benefits the participating insurance companies must offer participating customers in the exchange

The commissioner would also set rules for insurance companies to participate in the health insurance exchange, and establish criteria for individuals to receive federal subsidies to purchase insurance in the exchange, according to section 142 on page 42 of the legislation.

Further, the commissioner would have the authority to establish “automatic enrollment” of individuals who qualify for the health insurance exchange....

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) believes giving one bureaucrat this much power over the health insurance of Americans is among the least noticed provisions of the legislation.

“The American people want two things from health care reform: lower costs and more choices,” Boehner said in a statement. “Yet Democrats have done exactly the opposite coming up with a bill that actually raises costs--increasing the deficit by $240 billion--and letting a new federal bureaucrat make health care decisions that should be left to patients and their doctors.”

The legislation also gives the commissioner power to determine who can participate and under what conditions.

“The commissioner shall have the authority to establish such rules as may be necessary to deal with special situations with regard to uninsured individuals and employers participating as Exchange-eligible individuals and employers,” the bill says on page 82, “such as transitions periods for individuals and employers who gain or lose, Exchange-eligible participation status, and to establish grace periods for premium payment”

Big Brother - Will He Track Your Internet Use? Need you ask?

Since 2000 a ban has been in place preventing the Federal government from tracking internet visitors to the federal government's web sites. That may be about to change. Now what exactly will the government do with all that data? Hmmm?

Recently, the administration sent out thousands of unsolicited spam e-mails to Americans around the country. So one prospect for this intrusion is constant administration lobbying for your vote targeting the administration's disinformation right to your inbox.

More intrusive and negative possibilities exist also. Identifying conservative Americans and targeting them for harrassment: IRS audits, adding to a list of "domestic terrorists" if they visit second amendment and conservative sites, etc.

Were you aware the Office of Management and Budget was taking citizen input on this? I didn't, and the deadline for submissions was August 10th. Why wasn't it on the evening news? Do they really want input? Or only the input they solicit from friendly sources?

Remember Reagan's definition of the most terrifying words in the English language? "Hello, I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." Do you think that's what the FBI said to Randy Weaver before they shot his 12-year-old son in the back and shot his unarmed wife? Or what the BATF said when they arrived at David Koresh's farm in Waco and threw procussion grenades against the door to announce their presence before they killed 74 men, women, and children there, basically for being different?

I admit it, I'm worried about domestic terrorists, but I think most of them work for the federal government and come out of the wordwork under liberal administrations. Nixon's coverup of the Watergate break-in didn't leave bodies behind and sent plenty of Republican operatives to jail and forced his resignation. Clinton's body count was significant and none of the killers ended up in jail, only the victims.
