Cui Bono? Wars Make a Lot of People a Lot of Money! They Also Destroy Liberty!

As Scripture says, "Love of money is the root of all evil." There is so much money in war. Is it any wonder that the default position of many in government is endless war? That isn't what the Founding Fathers envisioned. In fact, James Madison, often called the Father of the Constitution, considered war the greatest enemy. "No nation," he said, "could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." Haven't war and terrorism been the twins used to reduce our freedoms? The Patriot Act after 9/11 is a 342 page document expanding activities of the FBI and CIA. It violates many of the rights articulated in the Bill of Rights. Are we really willing to trade our freedom for a false feeling of safety?

We are in Big Trouble and the Constitution and Bill of Rights Will Not Save Us!

Centralization of government kills freedom. When one party controls all three branches of government, freedom dies. We are there with only a few strict constructionist judges holding the line. All the institutions of government are in the hands of the tyrants and will be controlling our lives from cradle to grave! 

Gridlock is a blessing! We need more of it!

Listen to Antonin Scalia and take his words to heart. We will not see his like again. Listen to him describe the Bill of Rights of the Soviet Union before the fall. It was greater than ours with even more "freedoms." As Scalia says it was a "parchment guarantee," meaningless in real life. Learn to love the gridlock, he says, which protects minorities. "It doesn't take much to throw a monkey wrench into this complex system [of ours]." The Framers knew what they were doing.

If the Democrats win in 2020 liberty, already in dire straits, will collapse completely!

Sadly, Lincoln contributed to the collapse of liberty by strengthening the centralized government and gutting the sovereignty of the states. The more centralized the government, the greater the risk of tyranny.

Did you note the hypocrisy of the human rights group in Colorado that compared Jack to a Nazi for refusing to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding, but let gay bakeries refuse to bake cakes supporting marriage between a man and woman? The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds!

Jack's first amendment case will be heard by the Supreme Court on Tuesday December 5th. The Family Foundation is looking for supporters to be at the Court to support Jack and his legal team. If you live near D.C. why not plan to attend. This would be a great way to teach home schooled kids about our system and about our rights under the Constitution. Do You Know Your American History? The Fight for the Constitution!

Ignorance is no virtue and, unfortunately, most Americans are ignorant of our heritage.

Ask anybody what they know about the ratification of the Constitution and most won't have a clue. Maybe they'll be able to spout the phrase, "the miracle at Philadelphia," from the title of the famous book by Catherine Bowen; but probably few can even do that. What do they know about the Constitution's contents? Most have never read it and know little or nothing.

How many, for example, know that ratification was not a foregone conclusion and that there was a bitter fight over it?

Reflection on Independence Day: What is there to Celebrate?

As I think about our country and its founders on this 239th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, I wonder what we have to celebrate? Certainly not our government's honoring the beliefs of our founders. Our political leaders and the courts, especially the Supreme Court, have turned upside down everything in which the men who signed the Declaration believed.

The Bill of Rights is in deep trouble. Freedom of Religion is a joke. The powers that be have said we are free to worship in our churches, but they've locked the doors to keep us inside telling us not to bring our narrow-minded opinions into the market place. And certainly we may not exercise our moral values on the job. Christian nurses and doctors have been fired for refusing to participate in abortions. Christian photographers and florists and bakeries, you better provide services for sodomite marriages! Teachers, don't you say a word against sex ed or sodomite marriage or the gay-straight alliance. Sure, you can have moral values as long as you shut up about them.

The TSA Hustle: "Don't Touch My Junk!"

This is a little vulgar, but considering what's happening at the airport these days, how could it not be? If you have to fly, hand the TSAs a copy of the 4th amendment and wear body armor. A friend of mine is putting on pads and depends and wearing a sequined top and vest. A couple of layers under your shirt could help and be sure to tell the TSA you expect a pair of clean gloves. Who wants to be touched with gloves that have been inside somebody's pants?

Virginia is once again the cradle of liberty. Sic Semper Tyrannis!

They're slick, they're con artists, and they'll do anything to pass their extreme agenda!

If you read a history of the founding fathers, you find that most suffered for their ideals. Many ended up destitute and had to start over after the Revolutionary War. Their homes were burned, their belongings confiscated, nine even lost their lives. After his presidency, Thomas Jefferson was deeply in debt. In those days "public service" truly was service. Today, most of those who "serve" in public office leave office rich as Croesus and end up in lucrative jobs using their "connections" to further enrich themselves. To put it bluntly, many politicians prostitute themselves both in and out of office. Integrity and politics are too often strangers.

So is it any wonder to find politicians using sneaky stealth tactics to impose their extremist agendas on the American people? The Democrats are adept at disguising their actions and adding controversial issues to unrelated legislation as amendments, often to appropriation bills that legislators want to pass. Both sides do it, but the Dems have turned it into an art, like those three dimensional stereogram pictures hiding within another picture.

One stealth issue coming up this week is the work of Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont). He plans to add the "Hate Crimes" bill (S. 909: The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act described by opponents as the Pedophile Protection Act) as an amendment to the Department of Defense Authorization Bill. The Amendment is not really about protecting people from crime (hate or otherwise) - laws already exist for that. This is all about giving special rights to homosexuals, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered folks. (Did I miss anybody?) So if your granny gets mugged on the street it's not a hate crime, but if Joe Blow is dressed in an evening gown and stiletto heels and gets mugged he gets special treatment as the victim of a "hate crime."

But it's about more than that. Hate crimes are designed to stifle criticism of the immoral gay lifestyle. In Canada where hate crime legislation has been on the books for some time, church ministers have been prosecuted for quoting Bible passages condemning sodomy. Magazine and newspaper editors are fined for allowing ads critical of homosexual behavior. Bishop Fred Henry of Calgary and Basilian priest, Fr. Alphonse de Valk, were both brought before the Human Rights Commission for defending Church teaching on traditional marriage against the same-sex marriage onslaught. In another Canadian case, Bill Whatcott, was banned for life by a Saskatchewan court from ever publicly criticizing homosexuality. This is the ultimate goal of hate crime legislation - to muzzle free speech against homosexual immorality. Those who engage in sodomy and anal sex are above criticism in the world of "hate crimes."

If Christians don't fight this amendment, we'll have no one to blame but ourselves when we are targeted with the same persecution as our northern neighbors. And, in fact, the persecution has already begun. In 2008 a New Mexico Christian photographer, Elaine Huguenin who refused to photograph the "commitment ceremony" of two lesbians, was prosecuted by the New Mexico Human Rights Division. They said her action defied state antidiscrimination laws for sexual orientation discrimination. She is being defended by the Alliance Defense Fund whose spokesman says they will take the case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. Somehow, with confirmation hearings going on that will probably seat activist judge Sonia Sotomayor on the high court, I'm not particularly comforted by that thought. Once the court is packed with judicial activists committed to furthering the liberal agenda, there will be little hope for constitutional rights. When free speech is murdered who will resurrect it?

Christians must continue to put on the armor of God and fight. Call your Senators today at (202) 224-3121 and ask them to vote NO on the Sen. Leahy's amendment adding S. 909 to the Department of Defense authorization bill. Don't let Senator Slick and his buddies con us out of our right to free speech. We pay their salaries after all!

What's your soul worth, Nancy?

Nancy Pelosi meets with Pope Benedict XVI tomorrow with a U.S. delegation. This is the kind of photo op that pro-abortion Catholics love. "See, world, I'm shaking hands with the pope demonstrating that I really am an 'ardent Catholic.'"

So what are real Catholics to think? I offer this from California Catholic Daily:

"Fr. Tom Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, told LifeSiteNews.com that HLI will be briefing the Vatican 'so they are aware of her dismal record on life issues.'

"'It is our hope that the Holy Father will not grant the floundering Speaker of the House what she surely wants and expects, a quick and valuable photo-op, but will rather give her a stern lecture on contraception and abortion and let her know that her eternal salvation is in danger,' said Fr. Euteneuer. 'Further, this would be the perfect opportunity to formally excommunicate the Speaker, as she has done everything a public official possibly can to declare her lack of communion with the Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church on every conceivable issue.'"

A little fasting and prayer is in order for this heretical Catholic. I feel a special concern for Nancy Pelosi for two reasons. We not only share the same Alma Mater, Trinity College in Washington, D.C., but we also share a birthday (I'm younger) the day after a Marian feast day. So I ask the Blessed Mother's intercession for her wayward daughter. God doesn't want the destruction of any of his children no matter how malicious they are in their evil doings. Is Pelosi malicious? I have to believe that someone publicly corrected so often by bishops knows what she's doing. No one can be that stupid. So, Nancy, please repent. To paraphrase St. Thomas More - It profits a woman not to trade her soul for the whole world -- but for Speaker of the House and the Democratic party? When the gavel drops on the last day what will be your eternal judgment?

Please pray for Nancy and the party of evil...and while you're at it pray for all the stupid Republicans who abandoned conservative principles long ago. Then work for the restoration of Constitutional principles. Have you read the Constitution today?
