Establishment Republicans are good at jumping on the bandwagon blowing all the politically correct whistles. The issue that will ultimately kill conservatism and the Republican Party in this country, one that will destroy the reason people have so long tried to enter America (legally or illegally) is immigration. We need reform yes, but we also need a sensible policy that preserves the Constitutional principles on which the country was founded and allows assimilation of the multi-millions already here.
Phyllis Schlafly explains why our current immigration policies signal the death knell for the Republican party unless they put the skids on immigration. Ironically, our bishops are big boosters for killing conservatism while they pay lip service to certain fundamental moral principles like the right to life. Their policies will hasten America's death and our conversion to socialism. Once we're there (all the way there; we're well on the way) big government will be entrenched and you can forget about any defense for the unborn, the elderly, the middle class, etc. We will all be virtual wage slaves, cogs in big government's machine. Every liberal nightmare policy you can imagine from legalizing polygamy, drugs, active euthanasia, and pederasty (yes, eliminating the age of consent is on the horizon) to criminalizing Christian speech as a hate crime and confiscating guns will pass. You think the government is a monster now, just wait! Oh, and note to the bishops, do you really think the Church will be overlooked? Remember other Catholic countries like Spain and Mexico where the Church experienced bloody martyrdom under socialism!
Thanks, country club Republicans. Thanks, U.S. bishops. Once liberals destroy America we'll never have to worry about immigration again. No one will want to come here! We'll have no jobs, long lines for basic commodities (Remember the Soviet Union?), and anyone who dares to speak out will be an enemy of the state. Can't happen here? Open your eyes; it already is happening.
Hang on to your rosaries and fight -- for yourself and for your children. And please...don't give your liberal diocese any money. If you have a Catholic conference that is supporting liberal legislation or any legislation that is a matter of prudential judgment vs. fundamental Catholic morality, cut them off. What the heck are the Virginia bishops doing taking a position opposing uranium mining? For crying out loud! Pray for your bishop always and everywhere, but if he's involved in nonsense, don't give him a penny! Sadly, most of them are. You have an obligation to support the Church. You can do that in many ways other than filling the coffers in liberal dioceses.

Listen to Phyllis: No Constitutional Convention!
The first Constitutional Convention was called in Philadelphia to amend the Articles of Confederation. It was not given a broad brush to start from scratch. We are blessed as a nation that these wise and gifted men did exactly that. But would we be so fortunate today? Who would attend as delegates? Harry Reid? Nancy Pelosi? Newt Gingrich? Rahm Emmanuel? John Boehner? Do you trust any of them enough to give them a free reign to rewrite the Constitution?

Calling a convention to amend the U.S. Constitution would be a plunge into darkness because the only rules to govern it are those specified in Article V. It takes two-thirds (34) of the states to pull the trigger, Congress controls and issues the Call, and the Convention must consider Amendments (in the plural).Don't get on the Convention bandwagon. It's heading pell-mell for the cliff.

Phyllis Schlafly on the NEA
The National Education Association is one of the nuttiest groups on the planet. They aren't about education, by the way. They are all about accumulating power for their little fiefdom and about propagandizing young people (and old people, i.e. teachers and parents) into moral relativism. But they went a little too far when they celebrated the anniversary of the Communist takeover of China by Mao on their website. Phyllis Schlafly, with her usual astute insight, wrote:

What does Diversity mean to you? Same-sex marriage? Building a giant mosque on the 9/11 spot in New York? Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court?
To the largest teachers union, the National Education Association (NEA), diversity means celebrating the anniversary of the Communist takeover of China by Mao Zedong. The NEA posted this on its website calendar as a Diversity Event for October 1.
Thankfully, we live in a wonderful era when parents, Tea Partiers, conservatives, and students can rapidly spread the news ignored by the mainstream media. After this activity suggestion for teachers was reported on WorldNetDaily, the Mao calendar item disappeared (without comment) from the NEA's website. Read more....The foolish folks who celebrate Communism never had to live under Communist tyrants systematically arresting and murdering (take your pick): the intelligentsia, political opponents, Catholic priests and religious, Protestant clergyman, Jews (remember the pogrom in Fiddler on the Roof? It's based on reality.), homosexuals, etc. ad nauseum. The irony is that if we actually lived under Communist rule, many of the people serving as useful idiots would be the first shipped off to the gulags. Which just goes to show that sin makes people stupid.

A Laugh a Day with Obama's Czars!
He did it again. Obama has nominated another off-the-wall czar from comedy central (the X-rated White House version). This one endorses polygamy. Phyllis Schlafly writes about it at Eagle Forum:
How many people in the U.S. do you think have working for polygamy at the top of their "To do" list? This is one more manifestation of the insane culture. The loonies are running the country which is why the sane folks are making house calls at the Capitol, doing Jericho walks around the White House, voting normal people into governors' mansions, and listening to conservative talk radio by the millions. Obama and company are insane and their agenda is evil, which is why we need to pray and work for their defeat and excision from the body politic.
Now if only Nancy Pelosi's bishop would put her under interdict.
We thought our nation had settled the polygamy issue a century and a half ago, but this nomination makes it a 21st century controversy. Obama's nominee for the EEOC, a lesbian law-school professor named Chai R. Feldblum, signed a 2006 manifesto endorsing polygamous households (i.e., "in which there is more than one conjugal partner").Read more here....
This document, entitled "Beyond Same-Sex Marriage: A New Strategic Vision for All Our Families & Relationships," argues that traditional marriage "should not be legally and economically privileged above all others." The American people obviously think otherwise, and current laws reflect our wishes.
Feldblum is not the only pro-polygamy Obama appointee. His Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein, wrote a book in 2008 called "Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth and Happiness" in which he urged that "the word marriage would no longer appear in any laws, and marriage licenses would no longer be offered or recognized by any level of government."

This is a 2008 column by Phyllis Schlafly, but worth reviewing to see how Catholics in the pew financed the election of Barack Obama, the most pro-abortion politician in history. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development has a record that puts in queston whether or not it can be trusted. A campaign to fund charitable projects is great if the money truly goes to charity. But if it's funding liberal politics and politicians and undermining the Catholic faith in the process, then something needs to be done. CCHD has defunded ACORN. Is the problem ended? No. Large portions of the collection go to other community organizing groups that operate the same way, whose primary purpose is advancing liberal politics and politicians. Ask your bishop for an overhaul in CCHD. In the meantime ask yourself whether the campaign can currently be trusted with your money.

Pray for Phyllis Schlafly
I'm an enthusiastic fan of Phyllis Schlafly. She is beautiful, gracious, and smart as they come. I only wish I had half her brains and beauty. (Barbara Walters, eat your heart out!) So when Phyllis took a fall recently and broke her hip I immediately began praying for her full recovery. Phyllis is an icon of the conservative movement and a champion for traditional marriage and the family. It's hard to imagine the energy of a woman who taught all her children to read before they went to school, created the slogan and wrote a book for Barry Goldwater's run for president against LBJ, "A choice not an Echo," while her kids were still little, and almost single-handedly orchestrated the defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment. She continues to energize women to be the best they can be without having to be men. And did I mention she's beautiful, feminine, and carries herself with the dignity of a queen. I love that woman! What a role model!
The last time I heard Phyllis speak she was addressing a meeting of the Catholic Leadership Conference about the dangers of no-fault divorce which is devastating middle-class families in the same way welfare policies destroyed poor (mostly minority) families. She continues to speak the truth and influence the Republican party. Her Eagle Forum is a group to be reckoned with. I wish the party had listened to her for the past twenty years and really practiced conservative principles instead of running on Eastern, yankee, backroom powerbroking. We'd have a real conservative, small-government party instead of being Democrat-lite.
But it's never too late. If the Republican party returns to conservatism it will present a sharp contrast to the liberal dystopia threatening to turn the United States into an orwellian nightmare under a socialist demagogue.
Get well, Phyllis. We need your sensible voice now more than ever!

"You're the only parent who has complained" is a refrain that runs all through the stories of faddish methods, biased curricula, obscene assignments, and invasive surveys related in this new book by Steve Baldwin and Karen Holgate called From Crayons to Condoms: The Ugly Truth About America's Public Schools (WND Books 2008).
The "ugly truth" about public schools includes describing high schoolers who can't read, write or spell because they are victims of trendy "whole language" instruction, required courses in "death education" that actually encourage teen depression and suicide, and math classes where students write how they "feel" about math problems instead of learning multiplication tables, fractions, or algebra.
The chapter titles in this book give accurate clues to its sensational eye-witness evidence: "The Curriculum of Social Engineering," "Self-Esteem Trumps Learning," "The X-Rated Classroom," "Pushing the Homosexual Agenda," and "Parental Rights — Going, Going, Gone."
Public school administrators sometimes try to shame parents out of their efforts to change the system for the better. Students, too, who raise objections often end up ostracized by teachers and peers. But as this book shows, you are not the only parent or student with complaints against these trends. Parents, students, and teachers all speak up in From Crayons to Condoms about their worst experiences with the public school bureaucracy. These are the experiences of average people in average school districts, so they reveal the extent of the problem as well as the prevalence of families' frustration. Only a few of these dozens of stories have ever appeared in the media.
"It is not the job of the school system to fix all of society's ills. I send my children to school for an education, not for social programs, risk surveys, or 'preventive maintenance,'" writes Linda Rice, a parent whose children were subjected to invasive surveys, endless group work, and one ineffective prevention and awareness program after another.
The book affirms there are many good teachers in the public schools, and many teachers and administrators who don't attempt to overstep their role in students' lives. Others, however, repeatedly infringe on the integrity of the family by taking over as amateur psychologists, preachers of a secular world view, and deciders of what children need to know about sex, death and suicide, and other sensitive topics.
"Legislators have given schools this power," the editors remind us. "They assume that with the breakdown of the family, all students are at-risk and in need of government intervention." Many legislators and educators believe that "they are the ones that need to step in and make all these sick children well."
The book concludes with a chapter on "What Can Parents Do?" Especially useful is the "school checklist" of almost 100 questions to ask about a school's instructional practices and philosophy. Most of these questions apply also to private school instruction and even homeschooling, and can help parents discern the strengths and weaknesses of their children's school.
