The Generosity and Ingenuity of American Women

The video below is a testament to the generosity and ingenuity of American women. Even today there are volunteer groups committed to making our troops know they aren't forgotten back home. The opportunities to serve are endless. Americans don't need the government to tell us what to do. We don't need massive government programs like the ones President Obama has in mind for a civilian service comparable to the military. We have enough imagination and energy to develop a million projects to help and serve others.

Roger Cardinal Mahony is REALLY Upset about Arizona's Immigration Law

Cardinal Mahony is really, really upset about the Arizona law. The man who managed to stay calm, cool, and collected (and covering up) over the rape and sex abuse of children is a bleeding heart for those who sneak across our borders illegally. Mahony is outraged over the new law in Arizona which has as its objective the protection of Arizona citizens from murderous thurgs operating drug cartels and other illegals invading the country. He calls the law "the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law." (Yikes!)He's also accused the state of "reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation."

Wow! Don't we wish he had shown the same concern for the children of his diocese instead of intimidating parents and using diocesan lawyers (and money from the faithful) to protect himself and avoid facing the music?

Let's Hear it for Marriage and for a Bishop Proclaiming It!

Archbishop John Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has a great article on marriage in the Star-Tribune. Here are a few paragraphs that show this shepherd is on target about the proper nature of marriage. (You would think that was a given for a Catholic bishop, but we've seen too often that one can't take it for granted):

Throughout history, human beings in virtually every society have recognized that, to make a marriage, one needs a man and a woman. What is more, it has long been acknowledged that marriage is not just about the happiness of adults but concerns the well-being of society -- that is, the common good. Marriage exists in civil law primarily in order to provide communal support for bringing mothers and fathers together to care for their children. Same-sex unions cannot serve this public purpose....

Marriage is the way a man and woman bind their love into a lifelong commitment that is mutual, exclusive, and open to new life -- where they promise not only to love each other, but to love any children whom they create together. With that vow, the die is cast and the adventure of receiving and raising the next generation has begun.

The archbishop also takes a swipe at the disaster of no-fault divorce which has "liberated" so many single family households led by women into poverty:

Back in the early 1970s, the experts told us that no-fault divorce would liberate women from bad marriages without affecting anyone else. We now know that as many as one-third of women fall into poverty with their children as a result of divorce. Social science caught up late with the common-sense wisdom that children need a mom and a dad working together to protect them.

In other words, changing the law of marriage to enshrine no-fault divorce had unintended consequences that few predicted. Same-sex marriage represents an even greater challenge.

Congratulations to Archbishop Nienstedt for taking on this politically incorrect view of marriage. Let
 us hope the people of Minnesota are listening. And pray for the archbishop who is under attack by the gay cabal.

Clueless or Culpable? Ave Maria Steps in it Again!

Ave Maria Town seems to be a magnet for controversy. The latest bit of scandal is the cozy relationship between Jackson Labs and Tom Monaghan. Jackson Labs has a long history in the eugenics business and internationally is promoting embryonic stem cell research. And yet, they are being welcomed with open arms by the president of Ave Maria University, Nicholas Healy, and Tom Monaghan.

Here's what researcher, Randy Engel, reports about the relationship:

Barron Collier Companies of Southwest Florida in partnership with the Domino pizza magnate and Catholic philanthropist, Thomas S. Monahan (sic), is the creator of Ave Maria Town, home of Ave Maria University. The new Institute will be situated off Oil Well Road about three miles from the Ave Maria campus on the southwestern edge of property originally controlled by Ave Maria Development.

Last year, Blake Gable, Ave Maria Town project manager and President of Barron Collier’s Real Estate Division approached Monahan to discern if his firm’s business partner had any objection to the Jackson Labs project, and if not, would he (Monahan), be willing to sell his interest in the land to Barron Collier thereby making the project independent of Ave Maria Development joint interests.

Concern about the morality of having a large genetic research facility so close to Ave Maria University and Town, Monahan is reported to have sought advice from the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) in Philadelphia, which ultimately advised him that they could see no moral impediment to the land transaction.

Engel goes on to describe the questionable postions of the NCBC on issues like abortion and brain death. She also provides a history of the Lab which is up to its neck in abortion/contraceptive/eugenic research. In the 1960s partnering with Johns Hopkins, the lab helped to develop amniocentesis for the search and destroy mission which has decimated Downs Syndrome children.

Ok. Let’s tally up the arguments against the donation of land to Jackson Labs by Barron Colliers Companies, partners with Thomas Monahan.

Clearly, Jackson Labs officials have deliberately withheld information from the general public and from Ave Maria leaders including Tom Monahan (sic), regarding the role of its founder/Director, C.C. Little, in the early eugenic, birth control, sterilization, racial, and euthanasia movements of the first half of the 20th century. Each of these movements was vigorously opposed by the Catholic Church.

Jackson Labs is a major promoter of eugenics and eugenic abortion.

Jackson Labs promotes and engages in human embryonic stem cell experimentation as well as contraceptive research in violation of the Natural Law and Church Law.

These objections alone should be enough to convince Barron Colliers Companies to scrap the project. If not, then Monahan (sic) along with pro-life state legislators, right-to-life leaders and residents in Florida, especially the students of Ave Maria University and resident of Ave Maria town, should force the issue.

In 1912, Father Thomas J. Gerrard speaking for the Catholic Social Guild, dubbed radical eugenics doctrines as “a complete return to the life of the beast. …Man is not an animal by nature; the table not a feeding trough, and the home not a biological experimental station,” Gerrard said, an obvious slap at the Cold Springs Harbor Experimental Station for the Study of Evolution where C.C. Little was later employed.

If Ave Maria allows the transfer of land for this evil organization, it is one more example of their trading Catholic values for money. After all, the lab offers potential employment for residents of Ave Maria town. But what kind of employment? If they do this thing, they will be directly implicated in cooperation with one of the most evil movements on the earth. Do your homework, Tom. I'm sure Randy would be happy to speak with you and President Healy.

One Smart Lady: Victoria Jackson

Victoria Jackson may play the dumb blonde, but after watching a bunch of her tea party videos, I'm sold on this lady. This video, particularly, shows she is "dumb" like a fox. Her beautiful testimony to the unborn and her obvious religious underpinnings make her a courageous witness. She reminds me of Gracie Allen in her humor heyday playing the comedienne to George's cigar smoking straight man. Pray for Victoria Jackson as she goes around the country speaking the truth in her inimitable style.

Spreading the Message Through Songs

The Protestant Revolution spread like wildfire partly through song. The same with the Aryan heresy. And think of the influence of MTV to promote the sexual revolution. Well, here are some songs spreading the new American Revolution to return our country to Constitutional principles. A little humor helps to spread good sense. Enjoy!

Pope Takes Control of the Legion of Christ

From the Vatican statement:

"The serious and objectively immoral behavior of Fr. Maciel, supported by incontrovertible evidence, at times constitutes real crimes, and manifests a life devoid of scruples and of genuine religious feeling. The large majority of Legionaries were unaware of that life, particularly because of the system of relations created by Fr. Maciel, who had skillfully managed to build up an alibi, to gain the trust, confidence and surrounding silence and strengthen his role as a charismatic founder."

I know someone whose son went into the Legion as a teenager and was sexually abused. It is a tragic truth today, but blind trust, even in those that seem squeaky clean, is foolish. I met a group of Legion seminarians at a Wanderer Forum years ago and was impressed by them, but the order is tainted by the sins of their founder. Pray that the Legion can be salvaged for the good work they have done and pray even harder for those hurt and abused by Fr. Maciel and his like-minded cohorts. (More here.... )
