Consecration of Russia and the "Diabolical Disorientation" of Our Time

I found this video very interesting. We certainly live in difficult and challenging times. How would things be different if one of the popes had listened to Mary's request and consecrated Russia in the way she asked? There have been several imperfect consecrations which brought limited good results, but Mary's request remains unfulfilled after a century. 

Good News and Bad News on the Latin Mass Front

Good news from a good bishop:

Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, IL offers hope, consolation, and kindness to those who love the TLM. Following the motus proprio, Tradionis Custodes, he issued a decree on continuance of the Latin Mass in Springfield.

For the record, I've never heard of Rebecca Mavie Carroll. I confirmed she has never counseled Hannah, and she has never met or spoken with Jassy. The entire thesis of this piece crumbled in a matter of minutes - through simple fact checking.

I laughed when I saw this. I think Susan scored a hit which is why we got the threat. The thesis of the piece didn't "crumble" at all. As for Niles "fact checking" .... anyone who's seen her stories is familiar with how she uses half-truths to twist and spin. What makes her the filter for these three women? Is she their lawyer? Would they swear to these things in a deposition under oath? More to come. 

Thought for the Day on the State of the Church -- Never Fear, Little Flock!

How I love reading the Imitation of Mary every morning. It puts suffering in perspective seen in the shadow of the cross of Christ. We all love to be consoled and to see a world full of sweetness and light. That is certainly not our experience at present is it? The secular city and the city of God seem to be crumbling around us. 

If you feel that way, remember that feelings don't necessarily translate into facts. Following them can lead us into confusion and despair. Worried about the state of the world? Worried about the state of the Church? Take a deep breath and take heart. Nothing just happens! All is in the Providence of God. "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and serve according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) This consoling message comes from Book 2, chapter 32 of the Imitation of Mary:

"The games afoot" at Church Militant (CM) as they continue to focus their magnifying glasses on the SSPX. Is Fr. Pierre Duverger collateral damage in the SSPX offensive, one more stick with which to beat the society? Inquiring minds want to know.

Some of CM's reporting has facts to back up their assertions. And that's fine. Present the facts; ask the questions; see where they lead. If someone's committed a crime bring criminal charges. Hold those accountable who are proved to be guilty by solid evidence not by rumor, hearsay, and innuendo.

Friday Morning Musing on a Spiritual Work of Mercy...

...specifically -- To Bear Wrongs Patiently. 

Many of us would like everyone else to practice the golden rule: Do unto others what you would have them do unto you! 

But do we practice it?

The human tendency and a great temptation might be called the iron rule: Do unto others what they do to you. If someone brings a knife to a fight, you take a gun is the philosophy of our modern pagans. 

The biblical admonition of an "eye for an eye" was actually a rule that limited the punishment for wrongdoing. If someone committed a crime against another person, the punishment had to be balanced. You couldn't kill someone for robbing you. What sounds harsh was actually a brake on the human tendency to seek revenge.

Another One Bites the Dust! No Wonder We Don't Trust the USCCB!

Janet Smith has an article at Crisis about one of the highest ranking priests at the USCCB who just resigned when his "private" life was exposed. (I use the word "exposed" deliberately.

Note the priest's position. It's almost funny. The man using an app to "hook up" with other men looking for sex with other men (Any man will do.). was in charge of....wait for it...."overseeing sex abuse cases." 

The SSPX is NOT in Schism! Stop Already the Ignorant Accusations!

Archbishop Lefebvre was not excommunicated for being in schism.
He was excommunicate for ordaining four bishops without papal approval.
The Vatican never said that the Society was schismatic.  They are not!

I'm tired of hearing ad nauseum the accusation that the SSPX is in schism. THEY ARE NOT! And as the pope cracks down on the TLM (traditional Latin Mass), the flock may, with clear consciences, attend the Masses offered by the Society. 

So let's take a closer look.

Pope restores limits on pre-Vatican II Mass

According to the Arlington Catholic Herald the Traditional Latin Mass will continue in the Diocese of Arlington. Here's the statement from Bishop Burbidge quoted in the Catholic news service article:

“In prayer and obedience, I am reflecting on the motu proprio issued by Pope Francis and discerning how best to implement the changes,” said Bishop Michael F. Burbidge. “As permitted by the motu proprio, I intend to allow Masses in the Extraordinary Form to continue in the Diocese of Arlington.”
