Jon McNaughton: Storytelling Through Art

Jon McNaughton, a Mormon with eight children who is pro-life, tells the American story in a creative and fascinating way. He has a number of interactive paintings, but the one that caught my eye (I posted a link  a few days ago), is Obamanation. In the video below McNaughton explains his own work and encourages Americans to study the symbols he included which he documents at his website. I found the painting fascinating and comprehensive. He has many others that are also worth a look. What do you think?

Liberal Racists and Hate Mongers: They Just Can't Help It!

Did you hear Mia Love's speech at the Republican convention? And did you hear about the attack on this beautiful woman after the convention? Watch her speech and then read on.



After her speech, Love's Wikipedia entry was vandalized with racist, hateful remarks calling the lovely wife and mother of three a "dirty worthless wh**e" and a "house n****r." Here's how she responded on Fox when interviewed by Sean Hannity.



I'm waiting for somebody to apologize to Mia Love for the actions of the liberal hate-monger who vandalized her web page. Is anybody investigating who the hacker was? Actually, nobody expects it because the hacker was just doing what liberals like Bill Maher and David Letterman do every night to conservative women. And then there are the media types like Ed Schultz who attacked Laura Ingraham as a "right wing slut." And actor Michael McKean who described Michelle Malking as "dick of the week."

Liberals love to describe conservatives as intolerant, hate-filled, etc., but you'd have a hard time finding a conservative who can compete with a foul-mouthed liberal -- especially when it comes to insulting conservative women and minorities. Pray for a liberal today, they can't help it. Remember? They're all victims of somebody else.

Putting a Face on Abortion: Melissa Ohden

The Democratic convention begins next week and, if reports are accurate, defending abortion will be their centerpiece. Cecile Richards from Planned Parenthood Action Fund will speak along with Nancy Keenan from NARAL and randy law student Sandra Fluke who thinks taxpayers should fund her birth control while she travels around the world fornicating with her rich boyfriend. But it's actually appropriate for Fluke to appear at the convention. She fits right in. After all that rich boyfriend is the socialist son of a big Democrat contributor. And it isn't surprising to see Obama and co. trying to find something to take the country's eyes off his dismal record and refocus on (horrors!) Todd Akin's unfortunate comment. The tactic is likely to backfire, however, since voters may be reminded that Obama voted four times to deny basic medical care to babies who survive abortion. Here's one of them all grown up with a babe of her own. Thank God the nurse that rescued Melissa Ohden didn't share Obama's level of compassion.

More on Corruption at the Republican National Convention

Conservatives talk about the Democrats' corruption? Are the Republican elite running the party any differently? Think about it. The pro-abort Democrats wouldn't let pro-life Bob Casey, Governor of Pennsylvania speak at the 1992 convention. In 2012, the Republicans froze out Ron Paul. The Democrats are notorious for their corrupt politics: vote fixing, keeping folks from the polls, etc. How is that any different that the Republican elite preventing Morton Blackwell from leading the charge against disenfranchising delegates by pushing through draconian rules changes. They kept the Virginia delegation including Morton Blackwell trapped on a bus that circled the convention center three times before heading away from it. The dirty politics kept the delegation away from the crucial vote. Then Boehner, in a clearly biased act, declared by fiat that the "the ayes have it" when the vote was taken. You can listen for yourself and hear that it is by no means clear. It was all fun and games and inspiration on the stage at the convention, but backstage it was manipulation and corruption. The Republicans Have Sacrificed the Grassroots: This Cannot Stand! N.B. Note that Morton Blackwell begins speaking in the second video about minute 19 and goes until minute 31. He gives a powerful description of the danger of the rules changes. No wonder the Republican power brokers had to keep him away from the vote! He calls the rules change [#12] a "disaster," the worst thing he's ever seen in the Rules Committee. "It's what Democrats do all the time," he says. "It [Rule 12] takes away the stability of our rules between conventions." They also inserted a rule [16] that lets the presidential candidate "disallow" the delegates he doesn't like. Can you imagine - your state convention elects delegates who are then disenfranchised by the presidential candidate? And these totalitarians have the gall to call themselves conservative? This is dirty backroom politics at its worst.

A rogue administration can and has used the TSA, the IRS, the FBI, the BATF, the Dept. of Agriculture, the EPA, etc. to persecute Americans. Remember Ruby Ridge, Waco, food co-op invasions, etc.? Hey, even buying a cup of coffee with cash can get you on a terrorist watch list.

Catholic Relief Service Scandals

Find buckets of information about CRS at this website. You'll find information about the pro-abortion backgrounds of their employees, their support for pro-abortion/pro-contraception groups, explicit activities that violate Church teachings, etc. This is why you should NEVER EVER give to CRS. There are many groups doing good work in the third world without funding abortion/contraception. Support them. The bishops apparently lack interest in overseeing their charities to the degree that they have become enablers of evil. The only solution is to cut off the money.

Magnificent Magnificat

I love my Magnificat monthly prayer book! Not only does it have the Mass readings for each day, but morning, evening, and night prayer, a daily meditation, a section on a Catholic art masterpiece, and more. What a treasure! Sadly, I don't use it as effectively and fully as I should, but even in my lax way I receive so much from it - certainly more than the cost of the subscription. The daily meditations are pearls. Here's one I pulled from the book (August 30) to save. It was written by St. Claude de la Colombiere (+ 1682), spiritual director of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque:

God could not give us little, he could not restrict his liberality to small things without doing us grave harm....Let me show you a good way to ask for happiness even in this world. It is a way that will oblige God tolisten to you. Say to him earnestly: either give me so much money that my heart will be satisfied, or inspire me with such contempt for it that I no longer want it. Either free me from poverty, or make it so pleasant for me that I would not exchange it for all the wealth in the world. Either take away my suffering, or -- which would be to your greater glory - change it into delight for me, and instead of causing me affliction, let it become a source of joy. You can take away the burden of my cross, or you can leave it with me without my feeling its weight. You can extinguish the fire that burns me, or you can let it burn in such a way that it refreshes me as it did the three youths in the fiery furnace. I ask you for either one thing or the the other. What does it matter in what way I am happy? If I am happy through the possession of worldly good, it is you I have to thank. If I am happy when deprived of them, it gives you greater glory and my thanks are all the greater.

Wow! What a wise man. And now I'm not afraid to pray for things I think of as unpleasant because if God gives them to me, he will do it in such a way that my happiness is secured. Thanks, Magnificat, for this wonderful selection and all the others that enrich my day!

Thinking about Our Lady on First Saturday

Today is the first Saturday of the month. If you've never made the five first Saturday devotion, a new opportunity knocks every month. The requirements to secure the promises include performing these prayers and works for five consecutive first Saturdays:

• Going to Mass and receiving Communion 
• Going to Confession within eight days before or after
• Praying the rosary
• Spending 15 minutes reflecting on events in the life of Our Lady in addition to the rosary
• Do these things in reparation for the offenses and blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary

And here are the promises given to Sr. Lucy by the Blessed Mother:

1. Salvation of our own soul
To all those who, on the First Saturday of five consecutive months ... fulfill all the conditions requested, I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their soul. This little devotion practised with a good heart, is then enough to procure infallibly for us - ex opere operato so to speak - as with the sacraments - the grace of final perseverance, of eternal salvation! And this promise is without any exclusion, limitation, restriction. To all who ..... I promise. Heaven for eternity for five Holy Communions! 

2. Salvation of sinners
So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray. (Our Lady to Sister Lucy at Tuy, June 13,1929.) In consideration of this little devotion, They (Jesus and Mary) wish to give the grace of pardon to souls who have had the misfortune of offending the Immaculate Heart of Mary, wrote Sister Lucy in a letter of May, 1930. 

3. Peace in the world
Whether the world has war or peace depends on the practice of this devotion, along with the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is why I desire its propagation so ardently, especially because this is also the will of our dear Mother in Heaven.

How much Our Lady loves us and wishes for our salvation. Will you begin the five first Saturdays today? What consolation and peace accompany them. How can you refuse?
