The other day when I was doing bee hive inspections I was disturbed to pull out a frame filled with small white worms. They looked like wax moth larvae. That's no joke in a beehive. Wax moth can turn a hive into a horror movie scene pretty quickly. Only once have we had a serious infestation and we had to burn everything in that hive except the box which we treated with bleach. So when I hear the term "two worm-ridden popes" it's no joke!

The Catholic Herald's Article on Pope Francis -- Really?

The Arlington Catholic Herald's front page article on Pope Francis in the current issue (April 24 - May7) made me shake my head. Ridiculously one-sided and it totally ignored anything that might upset the instant canonization applecart. From headline to last sentence it turned the Francis papacy into the equivalent of a snake oil salesman's pitch for his magic elixir. It is typical since Vatican II to turn every funeral into an instant canonization process, so why shouldn't we expect that for the death of a pope? After all, every pope since Vatican II except Benedict was rushed through to instant sainthood. One is tempted to say it is all about canonizing the council.

According to news reports Fr. Kenneth Boller, SJ, pastor of St. Xavier parish in Manhattan, added the pledge against racism after the  Post Communion prayer of the Mass. (Source)

Archbishop Bernard Hebda just threw one of his priests under the bus for stating facts about Islam -- i.e., that its ultimate goal is conquest. 

Fr. Nick VanDenBroeke, in a sensible and charitable homily, preached that allowing unlimited immigration from a religion/political ideology that demands conversion to Islam is a threat to the United States. He is absolutely right -- not, however, politically correct. So he got the call from the chancery and apologized while the myth that Islam is a religion of peace vs. a religion/political system of domination and persecution continues.

The Crisis is Much Bigger than the Sex Abuse and Cover Up! It's a Crisis of Fatherhood!

The sex abuse crisis in the Church has focused the spotlight on the evil of what is primarily the homosexual infiltration of the priesthood. Of course there are priests who violate chastity with women, but the overwhelming problem, as evidence continually shows, is ordination of same-sex attracted men, not pedophiles who prey on very young children, but ephebophiles who prey on adolescent boys and young male adults.

But there's more to the crisis than that and an article at First Things by a good priest in our diocese, Fr. Jerry Pokorsky, targeted it. The crisis in the Church is one of the failure of fatherhood. Father writes:

Read those two articles. We're not talking forty or fifty years ago now. We're talking last Monday when Fr. Diego Berrio and Fr. Edwin Cortez were diddling each other in a car in broad daylight in a busy area. 

Do you really think these Chicago pervert priest "chicken hawks" don't use child porn and prowl for fresh "chickens" when they can? And then there's the third Chicago priest arrested in 2015 for possession of child pornography.

Albany Bishop Scharfenberger Condemns the Abuse of Authority

Bishop Edward Scharfenberger of Albany sent a letter to all his clergy and seminarians last Friday condemning the sexual abuse problem (including sexual harassment of adult men). Sections of the letter are very powerful. I reprint a large portion here:

In negative terms, and as clearly and directly as I can repeat our Church teaching, it is a grave sin to be “sexually active” outside of a real marriage covenant. A cardinal is not excused from what a layperson or another member of the clergy is not. A member of the clergy who pledges to live a celibate life must remain as chaste in his relationship with all whom he serves as spouses within a marriage. This is what our faith teaches and what we are held to in practice. There is no “third way.” 

“Sexual activity” includes grooming and seduction – the kind of experience that one of our brothers tells of in a recent interview in America magazine that you may have seen. The psychological and spiritual destructiveness of such predatory behavior, really incestuous by a man who is held up as a spiritual father to a son in his care – even if not a minor – cannot be minimized or rationalized in any way....

Sometimes ya just gotta laugh (in a cynical, head-shaking, angry way) at the downright audacity and hypocrisy of certain members of the hierarchy.

That's what I did when I read Cardinal Donald Wuerl's statement to WTOP about McCarrick's resignation which was immediately accepted by Pope Francis.

“I think this was a big step forward in trying to act quickly, decisively, even though the whole procedure isn’t concluded yet....The pope is saying that we need to show that we are hearing these things, paying attention and acting.”

Kennedy has been a Catholic scandal on the court for his entire career. Good-bye and good riddance. Pray for the man's soul and that his replacement is a "just man" in the model of St. Joseph. The Catholics on the court, like Kennedy and Justice William Brennan before him, are largely responsible for the demonic evils of abortion and same sex perversion that have made our country a modern Sodom and Gomorrah. Thank you, God, that Donald Trump will be naming the next justice and not Hillary Corrupt Clinton. And to all those so-called pro-lifers like Mark Shea who told us Hillary was the pro-life vote, go soak your heads. Maybe it will clear your brains.

And since Amoris Laetitia is being used to legitimize all kinds of living arrangements, why not a bishop with a concubine? He will join a group that can already be described as a school for scandal.

Jesus advises his listeners in today's gospel to obey what the Pharisees say, but not to imitate their actions.
That's a good lesson for us as we face the crisis in the Church. Let's look at some recent actions of members of the hierarchy (and the pope) and reflect on the consequences of those actions for the faith of the little ones in the pew.

Jesus was always concerned about simple believers and the responsibility of the teachers not to scandalize them. Today we are exposed to scandal on a daily basis from within the Church herself by false shepherds. And it is a serious threat to the faith.

• Amoris Laetitia: It goes without saying at this point that the actions arising out of the document Amoris Laetitia undermine the indissolubility of marriage.

Stop Feeding the Bishops' Evil Bureaucracy

The Lepanto Institute headed by Michael Hichborn recently revealed how the bureaucrats at the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) attempted to bribe them with a grant from the CCHD (Catholic Campaign for Human Development) if they would stop exposing the evil groups the bishops' "charity" funds.

Really? That's what Jesus would do?

Lepanto refused, of course, so they have been the target of a relentless attack to discredit their attempts to get the CCHD, Catholic Relief Services, and Catholic Charities to stop funding evil organizations and programs that promote intrinsically immoral actions like homosexual behavior, abortion, contraception, and other moral evils opposed by Catholic doctrine.

It's more than shocking and it demonstrates the reality that love of money is the root of all evils. Check it out here. The USCCB is a conduit for your tax dollars as well as contributions you put in the collection basket, and if it means they have to commit a little evil to get the dough -- well, the new reality is "Hey, you patsies in the pew, we cooperate with just a little moral evil because we're doing oh-so-much good."

I've had my own back and forth with Fr. Martin. Check it out here and note his several comments. But be sure you have a crying towel handy. Omigosh, he is just so appalled that anyone could question his decisions and be so uncharitable. Let's all send him teddy bears he can hug in his safe space. Fr. Martin is remarkably thin-skinned for a man so quick to judge others.

Like the men in Roman collars who transferred their loyalty from Christ and His Church to the English monarchs in the 16th and 17th centuries, Fr. Martin has sold out the faith for the adulation of the popular and politically correct. Perhaps he is himself a homosexual; for sure he is a homosexualist (one who promotes normalization of homosexuality) advancing ideas about sexuality that are in total opposition to Catholic truth.

How Will You Honor St. John Vianney? How about Saying Thank You to a Priest!

Today is the feast day of St. John Vianney, patron of priests and, in particular, parish priests. At Mass this morning I was thinking about and praying for many of the priests who touched my life: those who celebrated Masses I attended, heard my confessions, advised me, blessed me, buried my relatives and friends, anointed me when I was sick...what a number!

I'm also praying today for the priests who scandalized me and my family: the dissenters who told me falsehoods about the faith, those who desecrated the Mass, the teachers who lied to my children...all the scandalizers. I'm praying for the "retreat master" at my supposedly Catholic college who condemned the "outdated" Church and told students not to bother going to Mass if they didn't get anything out of it. What a jokester he was and how he played to the crowd. And foolish as we were, we laughed and listened.

What will be the repercussions from Cardinal Donald Wuerl (Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.) or Biden's Wilmington bishop, W. Francis Malooly? I'm not holding my breath. Several bishops have recommended in the past that Biden be banned from speaking in Catholic venues and abstain from Communion, but there's no evidence he's ever complied.

Corruption in Church Charities

I gave up giving to any special collections years ago. Sad to say, the Catholic Church can no longer be trusted with your charity dollars. When you put your dollars in the basket for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) or Catholic Charities or Catholic Relief Services (CRS) you don't have to guess whether you are funding evil, you know it! Catholic Relief Services has been documented again and again to be up to their necks in supporting abortion and contraception in the third world. Leaders in those organizations have sold their souls for the Almighty Dollar. Getting grants from the government is more important than saving souls. They are an instrument of the evil one.
