On the Silence of the Pastors: Where Have All the Shepherds Gone?

Many voices lately are lamenting the silence of the pastors. Some of them are high profile. We've certainly heard it for several years now from Archbishop Vigano. (Check out the new Vigano page in the index on the right. Everything he says is worth reading.) But a more surprising source popped into the news in the past few days. Catholic actor Jim Caviezel blasted the silent shepherds who have allowed our churches to be closed with nary a word of protest.

Not Silenced Yet: Pray for Fr. James Altman and for his bishop, William Patrick Callahan!

Thanks to all who signed the Open Letter to Bishop Callahan and left comments for Bishop Callahan and Fr. Altman and promises to pray. I urge everyone to drop the bishop a short note or postcard saying you are praying for him and urging him to restore the live-streamed Masses offered by Fr. Altman. The Bishop's address is:

OPEN LETTER TO BISHOP WILLIAM PATRICK CALLAHAN,

BISHOP OF LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN

Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

Your Excellency:

I am an orthodox Catholic who has spent my entire adult life fighting for babies waiting to be born: sidewalk counseling outside abortion facilities, offering a shelter home for moms in crisis, even going to jail several times for rescue attempts. As President of the Catholic Media Coalition, I speak for many likeminded Catholics who deplore the attacks on Holy Mother Church and those who defend her. Many of our members have watched and listened to the edifying sermons by Fr. James Altman and remarked on what a blessing he must be to his bishop for speaking the truth with clarity and charity about the moral obligation of Catholics, particularly our shepherds, to defend intrinsic moral issues.

Archbishop Vigano: Everything he writes is worth reading!

A friend and I were talking about Archbishop Vigano and his latest messages this morning over breakfast. We were lamenting the fact that there's no website where we can get a list and links to all his writings.

Guest Post: Lise Baur Writes to Bishop Callahan about Fr. Altman

Editors Comment: Letters, emails, phone calls -- all can have an impact on the threats facing Fr. James Altman for boldly defending the faith. They take a little more effort than signing the petition supporting Fr. Altman, but all these things help to get the word out and make the issue BIGGER! And the persecution of good, orthodox priests is a BIG ISSUE! I'm writing my letter today and will share it tomorrow. In the meantime, here's one from my friend Lise. What are you doing today to defend the faith?
Hey, the Catholic Church is a big tent where all are welcome -- even those who obstinately reject the truth!

Are bishops who punish priests for speaking against Democratic party betraying the faith?

September 14, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The City of God has a problem, a big problem. Many of those charged with protecting and defending her have gone over to the enemy. Some are active members of the treasonous conspiracy; others commit treason by their silence. They are the “nice guys” who want to be liked and admired. They don’t want anyone rocking the boat by insisting on unpleasant truths. So they say and do nothing while the active conspirators within and the enemies without take jackhammers and wrecking balls to the foundations of the holy city.  [Read more here....]

Fr. Robert Altier on the Coronavirus: We Have Been Lied To!

Yup!

They've lied to us big time!

Fr. Tom Collins on the Serious Deficiencies in the USCCB Response to Child Sex Abuse

Editor's note: And remember....We are still waiting for the McCarrick report. Is anyone at the Vatican listening? They hope we have short memories! Fr. Tom doesn't and neither do we! My comments in red.

After solid proof finally came to light that, for close to two decades, the USCCB’s famous Dallas Charter allowed predators like Cardinal McCarrick to continue their predations, many Catholics have raised other questions about the transparency of the official USCCB’s narrative on the issue of child sexual abuse and exploitation. As Dan Bongino likes to put it, the USCCB bureaucracy seems to be giving us a story, but not the story. [The USCCB undermines the faith and financially supports intrinsic evils. Let's all urge our bishops to withdraw and stop their funding.] This suspicion is aggravated by the following questions.

Fr. James Altman: The Latest Priest Under Fire by his Bishop for Boldly Speaking the Truth

What did Fr. Altman do?

He preached the truth saying you can't be Democrat and Catholic! Read the Democrat platform especially the section on women's rights and gender equality. Does this conform by any stretch to Catholic teaching or is it in direct violation supporting sins that call to heaven for vengeance? Believe me, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out! Now watch Father's homily that was shortened for the video.
