Also Thinking about The Hobbit

Haven't seen it yet, but some things just put you in mind of the mythological. Myth is a way to speak the truth in imaginative imagery. C.S. Lewis certainly thought so. Beware of dragons, especially the real ones who are visible all around us, especially in high government positions! Their name is legion.

  1. I think you should go and see it. Martin Freeman is the best actor, though I'm not sure how 30 pages of book!

  2. Yes, "There Be Dragons". I just bought the movie about St. Josemaria Escriva and one of his frineds, and I enjoyed it immensely -- good acting, good filming and good moral to the story.

  3. I've seen the Hobbit twice now. The CG is terrific. The atmosphere is wonderful. It makes me want to travel to New Zealand and see the real place.

The movie has a rich texture and it is fun but I have to say that it's quite a stretch to make three movies out of The Hobbit. But if you can luxuriate in the Middle Earth atmosphere you'll enjoy it even if they made even more movies out of it.

  4. Oops! Regarding my post at 5:27PM, I got the wrong movie, but evidently both "The Hobbit" and "There Be Dragons" are good. I hope I did not confuse anyone.
