George and Laura Bush and the Fort Hood Massacre

This picture of George and Laura Bush at Fort Hood is one of those 1,000-word pictures. When they heard about the shooting they came right over to visit the wounded. In fact, George Bush always seemed to really care about the troops. You often heard low-key stories about Bush showing up without an entourage at a VA hospital to visit wounded troops returning from Iraq. So this photo and story following the Fort Hood shooting is no real surprise. Obama showed up a few days later with his ever-present media followers for a quick photo op. But it's Bush who reflected concern for the men and women who make so many sacrifices, even life itself, for our nation.

Say a prayer today for George Bush. Sometimes you need to see the stark difference between two men to appreciate how much worse things can be.
