Armed Guards at Schools?

Why is the left attacking the idea? Sounds sensible and a lot more likely to prevent death than "gun free zones." Did you know that the Aurora theater attacker skipped the movie theater closest to his apartment? He also passed up the theater that attracted the largest crowds. What did he choose? The only theater in the area showing the Dark Knight that banned guns. Did that influence his choice? We may never know, but the same selection bias is demonstrated in many mass shootings. The place that bans guns is the killer's target of choice. Here are a few facts from the Fox News report:

The recent Colorado and Sikh Temple shootings are by no means the first times that killers targeted gun-free zones. We have witnessed mass public shootings in such places as the Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska and the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, Utah. In both cases, guns were banned at those particular malls, but not at other similar venues that allowed guns and were spared. With just one single exception, the attack in Tucson last year, every public shooting since at least 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns.
Interesting eh? To all those who say that guns don't save lives, I reply that even the thought that somebody may be carrying defensive weapons saves lives. There are bad guys out there with guns who plan to use them to kill people. There are also people who carry guns to protect themselves and others from the bad guys. There's a third group that wrings their hands and whines that everyone with a gun is evil. Their claim slanders millions of hunters and other God-fearing people who keep guns. It is a constitutional right that obviously needs to be defended in the face of hypocritical liberals like NBC's David Gregory. Wealthy, high profile liberals often have armed security guards to protect them, but they sure don't want you to have the right to protect yourself. Defend the second amendment!

  1. I don't know about "the left" but I don't want armed guards anywhere near my children. Guns are a lot different nowadays than they were when the Constitution was written. I think the founding fathers are turning in their graves at what we allow people to purchase in the way of people-killing machines. It's just as much of a sin against humanity as abortion. There is no reason at all to let ordinary people have such weapons and I would not want to be around anyone who would choose to own one. And to be clear, I am not talking about a hunting rifle or a pistol. Our country should be ashamed. The argument that "the bad guys have them so I should too" is riduculous. Just looking at the statistics in countries with stricter gun laws should make the choice obvious. Keep your weapons of murder away from me and my family, thank you very much.
