Join the Louisiana Governor's Call for Prayer and Fasting!

Louisiana Catholic governor calls for prayer and fasting amid coronavirus

Joel 1:14
Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Esther 4:16
“Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day.

Ezra 8:23 ESV / 455 helpful votes Helpful Not Helpful
So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.

Matthew 6:16-18
“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

What are we waiting for? Pray the rosary every day and join in this public fast. Send the governor a thank you for this. He is a rare bird, a pro-life Democrat who signed into law one of the strictest abortion bills in the country. You can email the governor here.

And maybe pray about this, my sister. ♡
Watch "Rep. Blumenauer: Presence Of Federal Agents In Portland Is A ‘Dramatic Overreaction’ | MSNBC" on YouTube

Are you serious, Susie?

I watched your video and found it nauseating.

Here's another from the Portland riots which have been going on for five weeks.

People are being murdered all over the country during these "peaceful protests" and you think the federal agents protecting federal buildings that have been defaced and vandalized is an overreaction?

You don't live in NYC any more but their gun violence and murder rate has more than doubled since last year.

So let's cut the police budget by a billion dollars -- makes sense, eh? I'm sure the law-abiding people living in the city who won't be able to get help during an emergency are grateful.

I'll be praying for all the police officers, federal agents and first responders murdered and injured during this Marxist Democrat debacle. Not to mention the young woman killed in Indianapolis, shot in the back after an argument because she said "All lives matter." But she was probably a white-privileged racist who deserved it, right?

And does that apply to the little eight year old black girl shot in Atlanta?

You can pray about the police over-reacting. I'm praying for police officers' safety and the safety of the poor folks who live in these violent hell holes. Hundreds of police officers have been injured and several murdered during the riots the mainstream media call peaceful protests.

Your comment dishonored our police officer brother.

??? John wore ensigna- I must check what I posted, what did you see...I saw unidentifiable armed supposedly gov. military going against/kidnapping citizens and taking them away in unmarked cars. John always identified himself and he never put his knee to a man's neck. In life, I was there for him. He knows I honored him all the way to his death (9 1/2 years)You must mistake me for someone else? But I understand the nausea. May you and your followers love God, your neighbor as yourselves and love your (perceived and unperceived) enemies. Luke 10:27 Luke 6:35 Thoughts and prayers for you all.

You did a lot for John and I always appreciated it.

In this case, however, you might as well carry an ACAB sign. I know what side of the riots in Portland John would be on. BTW I don't have any "followers." I have friends who "follow" Jesus Christ who said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."

I've tried to maintain a calm and civil relationship with you by not engaging over our disagreements. I suspect you knew what you were doing when you commented yesterday. It's not the first time you've picked a fight. If you throw gasoline on an ember expect a flareup.

Just looked up ACAB. I had never heard of it. Oh my. Sorry you see me that way. Sending buckets of water for the ember. All cops are not bastards...all cops are people struggling to deal with too much...but they wear ensigna. So glad they do not hide who they are. Sincerely wishing you, and all on this blog, peace of mind and ease of heart.♡ But I can't make you believe me. Apparently I have encroached, I shall retreat back into silence.

I live near New Orleans. Having a hard time with all of this. Went to my ENT today. Numbers are seriously inflated. We are using fewer ventilators than on our lowest days in the spring when this all began. People testing positive actually could have or have had any of the multiple coronaviruses. Local stores harassing people even though Governor's mandate clearly states medical exemptions. My doctor is seeing a serious increase in staph in nasal passages, sinus infections, and lung issues due to use of masks.

And no, I didn't fast today because it is our 24th wedding anniversary and we have only been out to dinner on our actual anniversary maybe twice. And, ahem, that's what some Catholics still do EVERY single Friday all year, just FYI Governor Edwards & Archbishop Aymond. But I would agree that public officials and bishops should be doing more for much needed reparation.

Happy Anniversary, Stabat Mater. I'm glad you went out to dinner to celebrate. There's a time to feast and a time to fast. And thank you for the info about issues with masks. It can't possibly be healthy and putting them on children is criminal in my opinion.
