A hero in a roman collar!

The other day I gave a talk to the core team of the Defend Life Face the Truth Tour. During the blazing hot days this week, these warriors of the Church Militant will be standing at busy intersections holding signs showing the graphic reality of abortion. They will receive thumbs up, honks for life as well as obscene gestures and screams. The really rabid pro-abortion zealots may even attack them. And in the past, these truth tellers have even been arrested. (They won the lawsuit against the police department.)

One of the things I mentioned briefly during my talk was the reality that there are traitors in roman collars. In the early days of the pro-life movement there was a real chance of passing a human life amendment to protect all lives from the moment of conception until natural death. That amendment wasn't deep-sixed by the feminists but principally by one priest -- Monsignor (later Bishop) James McHugh. As head of the USCCB's pro-life office, he had many contacts with laity fighting for life. It is an understatement to say he was not helpful, but actually threw roadblocks in the path to saving the unborn.

In her book, The McHugh Chronicles, Randy Engel exposed this traitor who wanted Planned Parenthood style sex ed in Catholic schools, and supported some of the worst of the abortion champions. He was good friends with Mary Calderone, head of SIECUS (Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States) and worked with her organization to infiltrate the Catholic Church with their poisonous ideas. They're still at it today. Sex ed was the entry drug to enable all the intrinsic evils against purity: lust, masturbation, contraception, abortion. 

Today Michael Hichborn at the Lepanto Institute sent an email about another group of traitors in roman collars (when they bother to wear them). They are having their annual heretical gab fast in San Antonio loaded with enemies of the faith as speakers and participants. The organization, the AUSCP (Association of U.S. Catholic Priests) undermines the faith and creates scandal. In my own diocese, I had many run-ins with one of their priest members. If you want to know why we're in the mess we're in, you need go no farther than to realize it's because of modern Judases. Jesus had a traitor in his own circle so that we would not be surprised when we found them in the Church and sometimes in our own parishes. I was reading the bulletin from the Church in Frederick that brings Communion to my sister in one of the local nursing home. The pastor's article praised notorious gay-promoting Fr. James Martin. There are enabling priests like this everywhere! The bad news is that their number is legion. The good news is that the younger generation of priests is, for the most part, not following in their evil footsteps. At times of crisis the Holy Spirit raises up saints! Let's strive to be among them.

Pray and fast for the Church. Beg the Holy Spirit for all His gifts. And remember that we are members of the Church Militant, not the Church picnic. And a check to Lepanto would certainly be in order. Michael Hichborn is fearless and a man of impeccable integrity.
