Sunday Meditation: Logic 101 from Fr. Tom Collins on the California Fires

I have a few comments before posting Fr. Collins' message.

Wildfires don't discriminate. Those living a Catholic life trying to obey God's commands can be caught up in devastating natural disasters along with their godless neighbors. Often the difference is in the reaction to tragedy. One L.A. family, the Halpins, came back to the ashes of their home where the only things standing were statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Joseph. Their reaction? Pray and sing. As Andrew, one of the six adult children said, “We have to give everything to God. And if that means our home at this time, we choose to trust that we’re in the palm of his hand.” Amen!

Having acknowledged that "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and serve according to his purpose," one still recognizes a hard fact. You reap what you sow; and California liberals running the government have been sowing evil for decades.  Fr. Collins explains the harvest of that crop. At the end of Father's message I posted a video of celebrities criticizing their state government. It's a bit of a head-shaker. How many of them supported woke politics thrilled to vote for radical abortion legislation? How many put protecting abortion, sodomy, and transgender mutilation of children first and worried about infrastructure and public safety second? Liberal policies, driven by "climate change" and "environmental" wackoism contributed to the failure to reduce the fire hazard in the state. Did these celebrities worry about that before or is it only when devastation burns their own doorsteps to the ground along with the houses attached to them?

Some of the celebrities expressing their opinions and criticizing Newsom et al also champion sins that cry to heaven for vengeance. They enabled the fires, just like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah brought down fire and brimstone on their homes. Innocent people suffer with the guilty like the infants and young children who must have resided in the sinful cities. And that's also true of the California wildfires. How many people striving to do God's will are homeless today? Many I suspect. And how do they react? One traditional Catholic family came back to their demolished home and sang glorifying God even in tragedy! God bless them and all those who are facing this disaster with courage and trust in God! Let us pray for them.

 CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
by Fr. Tom Collins

It is interesting to note that political leaders in California have been in the vanguard of promoting the absolute "right" to abortion - including legal sanction of allowing babies, who survive an abortion, to be denied any life support.

This does raise a question, though. If the right to abortion is absolute, does not Mother Earth (Pachamama) also have such a right to terminate lives dependent upon her for sustenence and support?

It seems so. After all, the social justice Democrats' WOKE and DEI agenda has arranged to reduce the water pressure needed to extinguish fires, to cut the budgets of local fire departments, to ensure that fire fighters be hired on the basis of DEI standards rather than competence and even to follow a "catch and release" policy toward arsonists helping Mother Earth to continue to abort Los Angeles.

A similar "Earth friendly" policy has been followed by Biden's FEMA officials in regards to those "aborted" by Helene - with FEMA funds diverted to subsidize the infiltration of our nation, with the frustration of aid efforts by private charitable groups and delays in sending adequate relief to survivors, and the slandering of those reporting such malfeasance as "fake news conspiracy theorists".

Apparently, enlightened by insights generated through Laudato si and Church leaders, who degrade the importance of the "single issue" of abortion, such officials are operating on the premise that saving the planet is more important than saving lives.

Meanwhile, they continue to tolerate the poisoning of the earth by chemtrails, food additives, experimental vaccines, pesticides, etc. and to suppress the safe agricultural practices of such groups as the Amish.

Sadly, as the people of California are witnessing, elections have consequences, some of which are lethal - how lethal may become increasingly and more traumatically evident as we approach January 20th.

God save us!

Fr. Tom
