Won't the U.S. Bishops Love This!

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Announces End to Funding for NGOs Aiding Illegal Immigration

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been enabling grievous sins for years. They support distribution of contraceptives in the third world and assist organizations that fund abortion. The CCHD (Catholic Campaign for Human Development) and Catholic Charities are pigmies next to the evil giant of CRS. I rejoice over defunding these groups that enable so much evil. We can expect howling from the bishops, but the taxpayers will benefit. Charity is a Catholic obligation and the bishops should be preaching that, but their charities distribute poison along with their rice bowls. The bishops no longer have the confidence of Catholic in the pew. Catholics once were a powerhouse to be feared in the voting booth. The bishops squandered our power long ago by embracing liberalism, preaching seamless garment garbage, and going for the money. Love of money is the root of all evils and the USCCB often seems to love the almighty dollar more than Almighty God.  Cut the funding and close the massive Catholic bureaucracy in D.C. We will all benefit!

From the article:

During her first White House press briefing on Tuesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked whether Trump planned to permanently cut off funding to organizations that assist migrants, such as Catholic Charities. Leavitt responded that she was “quite certain” the administration intended to do so, citing an executive order the president had signed to address the issue.

Reports from June 2023 indicated that NGOs and religiously affiliated groups played a significant role in aiding migrants entering cities like New York. NewsNation found that organizations such as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service received substantial federal funding—over $93 million in grants in 2021 alone, accounting for nearly 80% of their budget.

Noem also highlighted that these NGOs are operating not only within the U.S. but also across the southern border. “Many of these organizations have established operations in Mexico, where they actively encourage illegal immigrants to seek their assistance in crossing into the U.S.,” she explained. “They’re facilitating border crossings, making it easier for individuals to violate our immigration laws.”

The bishops control their own borders with locked doors and no trespassing signs in their buildings and parking lots. Try walking into their D.C. office building without being challenged. The hypocrisy of their "welcome the stranger" mantra is self evident as they sell out American citizens and legal immigrants.

We're starving for true shepherds, Lord. Please send us a holy pope and holy clerics.

  1. Curiously, I have noticed that the one tax they vigorously opposed is one they have to pay.
Maybe about 10 years ago., i got this email form the Maryland Catholic Conference wanting us to write our state reps that CC institutions should be exempt from a proposed rain tax!
That tax they didn't like. Other taxes that peasants need to pay, well render unto Caesar...

  2. When these collections come around I would sometimes place a hand written brief note in the collection basket explaining why I could not contribute. If it made it's way to the trash I at least know that at least one person read it.

I know others who throw out those envelopes ahead of time. When I taught CCD and the CRS Rice Bowl thing came around I would strategically forget to pass those out to the students.
