WASHINGTON, D.C., January 24 (C-Fam) President Donald Trump made several important pro-life announcements today.
By video conference at the March for Life, the President thanked attendees for their “extraordinary love and compassion for the unborn.” “This annual march,” he said, “started 52 years ago, on the first anniversary of the disastrous ruling known as Roe v. Wade.”
During his address Trump indirectly expressed support for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act when he criticized Democrats for support for abortion even “after birth.” The Act passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, would require medical intervention to save the life of an infant that survives an abortion. He also told marchers about his pardon of 23 pro-life activists prosecuted and excessively sentenced for violating a law that restricts the distance activists must observe outside abortion clinics while counseling women seeking abortions.
Significant pro-life policy announcements came later after Trump’s visit to fire and flood victims in North Carolina and California.
President Trump issued a memorandum reinstating the Mexico City Policy. First instituted by President Reagan, Mexico City Policy prohibits U.S. funds from going to foreign organizations that promote or perform abortion. As in his first term his prohibition extends to all global health funds – about $11 billion and is referred to as the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance policy (PLGHA).
It was also announced today that President Trump has directed the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that all existing grants and contracts would be paused pending a 90-day mandatory review. The implementation notice is a follow-up to Monday’s executive order. Foreign assistance could be terminated if “not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States.” Potentially, this could end many overseas programs that promote the sexual revolution.
It was also announced that the United States would rejoin the Geneva Consensus Declaration – an agreement established during President Trump’s first tenure that promotes optimal women’s health, recognizes the fundamental value of the family and the sovereign right of countries to make their own laws. The declaration is vehemently opposed by reproductive rights advocates due to the inclusion of text that states there is no international right to abortion.
“The Trump Administration is committed to supporting families, promoting women’s health, and protecting children at all stages of life,” read the Department of State announcement. Also included was that the U.S. would “pursue these objectives in cooperation with member states in the UN system and through our continued shared ambition for improved health for women and girls.”
The United States will be the 40th signatory and likely resume its leadership role as the secretariat of the Coalition.
The reversal of President Biden’s overseas abortion policy was quickly praised by Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) Co-Chairman of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus.
“Without this protection in place, NGOs receiving U.S. government funds promote and perform abortion throughout the world with massive subsidies from the United States. By redirecting taxpayer dollars away from the abortion industry, President Trump has re-instituted a life-affirming protection consistent with the political consensus that taxpayer dollars should not fund abortion and the abortion industry,” Smith said.
“The Trump Administration is committed to supporting families, promoting women’s health, and protecting children at all stages of life”………..
ReplyDeleteIs pro-LGBT – pro-life?
Is adoption of 'innocence' by LGBT (couple) – pro-life?
Is the so-called ‘cancer vaccine, AI’ – pro-life?
https://catholicism.org/ai-powered-surveillance-state-maga-style-and-with-a-cancer-vaccine.html
Americans need to ask themselves if an AI surveillance state and Fauci-style experimental gene therapies marketed as vaccines is what they voted for. Are we heading from Operation Warp Speed to Stargatge AI?
And we'd be better off with Kamala Harris? What exactly are you doing to try to change things for the better? Been to jail like the pro-lifers Trump pardoned?
DeleteYou are correct, it would be immediately worse with her.
DeleteBut there are some grave concerns with Trump such as his huge support of Stargate and mRNA injection (which is all about transhumanism - a Tower of Babel).
His pro Zionist stance (more friendly and better partner than any other president to Israel) is worrisome too.
Also his embrace of Cryto-currency and its excellent potential to be a system to establish a mark of the beast system is problematic.
He could prove be a huge Trojan horse erecting the future techno-governance that Big Brother couldn’t imagine in his wildest dreams..
We are seeing some very good core moves but some very bad government partnerships being erected.
Vance also has Trojan horse possibilities…

A newly converted Catholic but wed in a Hindu ceremony….
Did they get their marriage blessed (or more to the point exorcized)?
When I read the story of his conversion it seems more of a career business decision than a spiritual path.
Hillbilly Elegy…. There’s a Greek theme in his story. Very elegiac.
Always pointing the finger at President Trump (MAK likes to constantly remind people that "Trump is no savior, as if people don't know that he isn't Christ) and now the finger pointing with JD and Usha Vance begins.
ReplyDelete"Look! He married a HINDU! OMG! Usha is not a CATHOLIC! Did JD get his HINDU marriage (he was a protestant at the time) corrected, blessed, undone, negated by a Catholic priest?!! But...but...but this is uncalled for!!! It isn't CATHOLIC!
Meanwhile it's amazing to realize that commenters think the world should be as PERFECT as they are. That President Trump has to be PERFECT. JD and Usha need to be PERFECT and all in line with Catholic rules. Please, look at yourself and if you're not as PERFECT as you think you are try to realize that TIME hasn't ended yet and there's atill a chance of people ordering their life as God wills. Not as we will it to be. Maybe one day with God's grace we'll all be as PERFECT as TuNeCedewhatever.
I think TuNeCede makes some valid points, and Trump is far from perfect, and therefore his appointees including Vance need scrutiny. No longer are we dealing with the lesser of two evils for November 6. At the very least, we're dealing with who should be put in place for the 2028 GOP nomination, to avoid the dilemma we had to face last year with "lesser of two evils". Would that Moms for Liberty types had not been smashing conservative Trump naysayers in the mouth 2021 and onward, so to force that Trump (despoiler of the GOP platform!) was the inevitable GOP nominee in 2024. We might have had Rand Paul, sponsor of Life at Conception amendment as nominee, were it not for President warp speed (yes MaryAnn this is rohrbachs!) and his minions. TuNeCede is correct about the AI Surveillance State - anyone who watched Trump platform Larry Ellison "CEO of Everything!!!" along with other Big Tech Creeps in the oval office should connect very distinctly back to March 2020. Buck should have, but never stopped at, Trump.
DeleteHave no problem posting comments by those who disagree with me, rohrbachs, as long as the comments are respectful which yours sometimes are not. I won't say "often" although that was the first word that came to mind. Did Rand Paul run for president in 2024. If so, I'm not aware of it. The fact is Trump was decisively elected and, despite your unwillingness to see any good in him, he has done much already to increase the safety of the American people and defend pro-lifers and help return us to merit based hiring policies. There are no saints among the presidents of the United States and many who were closer to the devil. I believe the Lord has allowed a Cyrus to be elected. May we use this time of rebuilding to pray and fast for the conversion of the American people or this will be a brief respite, the eye of the hurricane, with worse to follow I expect.
DeleteRand Paul, and any GOPer other than Trump, was blocked from even consideration for GOP nomination by the massively formed MAGAS who were fed fake school choice bait by Trump. On that note, please see the video "Sweden's alarming tale on School Choice".
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt Democrats crossed the line to primary vote Trump for GOP nomination.
Also, people are a little too entertained by Trump's disrespectful rhetoric. That might not matter if he had the proper policy orientations, but in many cases he doesn't eg won't sign abolition, and gaslights us that Dobbs was prolife, which is like saying the Missouri Compromise was antislavery.
It would be refreshing to see you acknowledge even one good thing Trump has done, rohrbach. If he shuts down USAID, he will have done more than any president to drop a bomb on the abortion movement. Contraception and abortion have always been a primary focus of that evil department. I pray Trump succeeds at shutting it down. It was always about population control through contraception, abortion, and sterilization. https://fee.org/articles/the-us-government-led-a-program-that-forcibly-sterilized-thousands-of-peruvian-women/
ReplyDeleteLincoln is the most prolife president ever. He abolished slavery and set the rock solid pattern for abolishing abortion by touching back to the words of the Declaration (something the Confederacy had denied).
ReplyDeleteAbolishing abortion would go a long way to getting rid of all the other consequent products of the sexual revolution that president warp speed is swatting at to get your applause, and that the next puppet can reverse on command.
You're delusional, rohrbachs. Lincoln didn't care a hoot about slavery. The only legal case he ever argued about slavery, he defended the slaveholder. He wanted to deport all the slaves back to Africa. He made it clear that blacks were not equal to whites. He did not want them to have voting rights or serve on juries. He used slavery as a political issue just like Clinton used to carry around his Bible and Biden wore his rosary around his wrist.

Lincoln waged an all-out total war against civilians in the south, a war crime if there ever was one. Lincoln's army went on to use the same tactics against native Americans in the West. The atrocities there were planted during the Civil War by northern generals whose evil tactics were championed by Lincoln. https://www.abbevilleinstitute.org/lincolns-total-war/
The pope at the time, Blessed Pius IX never took sides in the war, but made it clear where his sympathy lay. He called Jefferson Davis "honorable" and recognized him as president of a nation.
https://catholicknight.blogspot.com/2009/02/pope-pius-ix-and-confederacy.html
We'd all be better off if the South had won the war. Slavery was on the way out and everywhere else it ended with compensated emancipation. We didn't need to kill hundreds of thousands of our fathers, sons, and brothers to make the U.S. the federally-governed tyranny we have today. We'd all be better off with a confederation of states. By the way, there were more abolition groups in the South than in the North, but you obviously can't be bothered to learn any of this.
