TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis encouraged fathers to participate in their families lives in an interview with First class Fatherhood discussing the fatherhood crisis in the United States.

“If you had every kid in America had a loving father in the home, we would have far, far fewer problems that we would have to deal with as a society,” DeSantis said.

The Governor urged fathers to be present in their kids’ lives. DeSantis shared the struggle he faced spending time with his family while serving as a member in congress when his daughter was born in Florida.

“I’m sitting in my office in D.C. wondering ‘why the hell am I up here?’ I really want to be back down,” he explained.

DeSantis said the Governor’s role is more “family friendly” and allows him to see his kids for dinner or in the mornings.

“If I’m going to do public service, I wanted to make sure I could do it in a way that was more family friendly,” he said.

The Governor signed legislation to tackle the fatherlessness crisis in Florida. Last month he signed legislation to support fathers and children by connecting men with career services and boys with mentorship.

DeSantis said in April that kids without a father being more likely to drop out of school and get in trouble with the law.

“I do think there are a lot of problems, but if you could just snap your finger and do one thing, and you did this where the fathers were in the home, you would not even need to worry about a lot of these other problems.” DeSantis said.

  1. Words of wisdom. Hey, on that note, this is somewhat unrelated but since she doesn't have a message forum and I know she is a friend of this blog, I want to give Dymphna's Road Blog (whoever she is) a shout-out. Whenever she posts something new, it really resonates with me and makes me think and pray all the better about the topics she brings up so articulately in her random thoughts. Dymphna, if you are reading this, thank you. Your latest post about the persecuted Nigerian Christians is so, so apt. Where is not only the Catholic media but the secular media in all of this? What's happening in Nigeria is 200x worse as what's happening in Ukraine and what's happening in Ukraine is the fault of the media's sugar daddies in Washington's freemasonic lodges. The media loves to harp on racism but the fact that they ignore the plight of the African Christians proves that they could care less about black (Christian) people.
