And this is the evil organization the pope tells us to obey! NO WAY!

U.N. Pushing Anti-Life Agenda Again at Nairobi Summit

Accelerating the promise? To kill babies in the Third World to save the planet from climate change?
I'll summarize in case you don't want to read the entire article.

Pro-life activists say the summit (November 12-14) was "rigged to push through radical anti-life and anti-family language that threatens the lives of unborn babies, the dignity of the family, and their traditional culture."

Should We Obey the United Nations?

I've been reading up on Catholic social doctrine and international organizations since the pope said Catholic doctrine means "we should obey" the United Nations and other international organizations.

Really? I'd like a citation for that in the dogmatic teaching of the Church.

Coincidentally (or providentially), the U.N. was established the same year C.S. Lewis' novel That Hideous Strength was published. The evil bureaucracy in his novel could be the model for the U.N.! Sometimes I wonder if the Holy Spirit was involved using Lewis (who certainly had great insight into the workings of Screwtape and his Father Below) to send a warning about the new Big Brother in town getting ready to unleash incredible evil on the world.

The evil bureaucracy at work. Is that Big Sister on the screen?

Take Up Your Cross, Draw Your Sword, Raise Your Voice!

Alexander Tschugguel, known by all for expelling idols from the church in Rome recently.
Alexander Tschugguel may not yet be a household name, but it will be for all who love the Church.  Admittedly difficult to spell and pronounce, it is synonymous with the expulsion of idols from the church in Rome following the shame of a synod held to advance the Vatican II agenda to transform the Catholic religion into a belief system compatible with all other world religions.

Lessons on the Snakes of Life

This?
Yesterday as I was cleaning the patio I saw a small brown, therefore probably poisonous, snake lying under one of the plants. It was outstretched, lying perfectly still. It looked like it was thinking. Possibly wondering where it wanted to go and curl up. I held my breath, backed away, then turned and raced to the garage to get the hoe. Once back and with the hoe poised to kill I sneaked up on the snake still lying in the same outstretched position. I tiptoed up behind it and THWACK! I got it! Right behind its head! I held the hoe firmly down on the pavement but oddly the snake didn’t squirm. I edged a bit closer and noticed that it was already dead, possibly injured at some point by one of my rabbits (one of them killed a rat once) then dried up by the hot sun. When I stooped to look more closely I saw that it wasn’t a snake at all but a long brown dead leaf which had fallen from the Amaryllis plant above. Whew! No snake infestation. Thank goodness.

But then that night snakes infested my dreams. I dreamed that I was in some sort of camp (I’ve been reading The Catholic Martyrs of the Twentieth Century by Robert Royal). There were no people around since they were all either working in the fields or in brain-washing classes. I was in charge of cleaning the Commandant’s office and there lying on the carpet was a long skinny green snake, which very obviously meant that there was a snake infestation, or soon going to be, which in turn meant trouble from the evil Commandant. Wanting to keep an eye on the snake to see where it went, I called out for someone to bring me a hoe.

Saudi Blogger Got 1000 Lashes and 10 Years in Prison

Raif Badawi

The wife of jailed Saudi blogger Raif Badawi, sentenced to ten years in prison and 1,000 lashes, said the first flogging (50 lashes a week for 20 weeks) nearly killed him. Of the large crowd gathered to watch, she said: "The crowd was cheering like it was a beach party."

Badawi was led by Saudi officials into the middle of the square in front of al-Jafali mosque in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His crime is "insulting Islam by calling for free speech on his website." His treatment by authorities in Saudi Arabia is a vicious act of cruelty. In addition, Raif's lawyer received 15 years in prison for defending him. Lessons:  (1) Islam is cruel and (2) there is no freedom in Islam.

Thank the United Nations for the Chaos in Europe

The U.N.: the perfect model for the evil bureaucracy in C.S.
Lewis' novel, That Hideous Strength!
Plot to replace Europeans with refugees exposed

When I read this article reporting on a 2000 U.N. paper describing the necessity of mass migration to the west to offset aging and declining populations, I wondered if it was fake news. So I did a search on the U.N. website and confirmed the existence of the report published in 2000 that did, indeed, promote the invasion as a "solution." Isn't this just what we'd expect from the Utopian planners who know what's good for all of us? The U.N. has spent years promoting the sexual revolution and the elimination of babies through abortion and contraception because of "overpopulation." And now their "solution" to the birth dearth disaster they promoted is a migration invasion.

First they came for the babies; then they came for western culture.

Phil Lawler's View on the Upcoming Encyclical on Climate Change

His article is well worth reading. "Cui bono?" he asks. The answer is unsettling.

The Vatican's dangerous embrace of climate-change theory

The U.N. has proved itself an enemy of the unborn through its promotion of abortion and contraception, an enemy of the Third world through its programs that involve vaccines tainted with anti- pregnancy hormones, an enemy of people everywhere by its relentless mantra of overpopulation and encouragement of one-world government. Pray that in its relations with the U.N. the Church influences change that respects the dignity of the human person.

Fr. Tom Writes on Pope Francis and Redistribution of Income

Father hits another home run in this article. Let us share willingly the blessings and benefits we have -- not merely our physical wealth, but the wealth of our prayers, our presence, our talents, our love. For many people, the wealth they need is time. The sick and elderly in nursing homes -- what a blessing to give them a listening ear and a cheerful smile. For children in the inner city who have never walked in the woods, what a gift to offer a week in the country. It will be more than feeding a hungry body; but will feed a hungry heart. Read Father's article and rise to his challenge! As for his statement about “legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the State” what can that possibly mean? Since the government doesn't own the property of its citizens, how can the state possibly "legitimately" redistribute anything without stealing? That's what Zacchaeus was doing -- stealing. He repented of his theft and voluntarily made restitution and gave what was legitimately his. Frankly, I find Pope Francis baffling in his mixed messages and confusion. Causing confusion and imbalance among the faithful is not a particularly positive sign. Pray for the pope and the magisterium. Our poor, confused Church needs it. We all hear about the "new springtime" but it bears all the signs of a drought! Fr. Z has some cogent comments on the pope's statement as well. Check out his blog!

By Father Tom Collins...

In a recent address to a United Nations committee in Rome, Pope Francis called for governments to work for an ethical redistribution of wealth, so as to help the poor and marginalized of the world to rise out of oppressive and degrading poverty.

In reflecting on his words, I could not help but to recall what happened in Zimbabwe when the colonial era of that land ended. With the best of intentions, the government of that nation initiated a land redistribution program, whereby much of the farm land owned by the former colonial rulers of that region was taken away from its colonial owners and parceled off to the poor. It was a great move to empower those who had suffered the burden of poverty for decades. But the results were devastating.

State Department Lies to Latin American Delegation: Says Vatican Supports Resolution on Homosexual Rights

Anyone with eyes and ears knows this administration doesn't mind lying through its teeth to get whatever it wants passed. And that's what the state department did at a U.N. meeting in Geneva with regard to a resolution on homosexual rights. Here's what C-Fam reports:
The US Department of State is telling Latin American delegations to the United Nations that the Vatican has changed its position on a sexual orientation declaration that was just released at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, according to diplomatic sources in New York.

According to these sources, an official in Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US State Department has held a series of meetings with Latin American delegations telling them the Vatican now supports the declaration calling for “sexual orientation and gender identity” to be new categories of non-discrimination in international law. However, a high ranking source at the Holy See says these assertions are false and that the Holy See opposes the declaration being considered in Geneva.  Read more here...
Are we surprised?

The U.N. reflects "world imperialism that despises the poor" says Argentine Archbishop

A South American bishop has seen the enemy and it's the United Nations. Archbishop Hector Aguer of La Plata, Argentina says by promoting abortion and homosexuality the U.N. and its "satellite organizations" (like Planned Parenthood) are working to “shift paradigms of behavior and alter the definition of what real human rights are.”

Who's behind the wicked agenda? The Archbishop sees international powers who "despise the poor." He expressed his opinion in his weekly reflection on the television channel, America TV, as reported by Fides news service:
"We should be aware that here there is a conspiracy in the worst sense of the word. There is a plot to homogenize thinking and behavior in the world and it comes from the world's power centers. In particular, it comes from the centers of political power, supported by the centers of financial power. We are witnessing a new colonialism, a new imperialism....
"There are many problems to be solved in Argentina! For example, poor pensioners, who are always marginalized, who will never have the pension they deserve, and the large number of young people without work or study, and internal migration that leads to new settlements in subhuman conditions, increasing poverty, insecurity ... Regarding this, we see that the state cannot fully protect the lives and property of the population, but it takes time to rebuild the civil code, the penal code, and to impose these new paradigms that are but the tip of the iceberg of a new colonialism, a world imperialism that despises the poor in particular....
"[I]n the name of human rights, the United Nations - which should be entrusted with their care – instead becomes a transgressor of natural law. This occurs because for many years now, these centers of global power have had ideologies contrary to the nature of the human person and, therefore, contrary to their dignity, rights, and corresponding duties, imposed on them."
Archbishop Aguer sees the matter more clearly than do many U.S. bishops. The U.N. is probably the greatest enemy of the family in the world creating international documents that promote "reproductive rights" (newspeak for promoting abortion and contraception), replace parental rights with the authority of the state (U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child), and advance homosexual activity as a protected "civil right." The U.N. is so immersed in evil it reminds me of C.S. Lewis' evil bureaucracy, NICE, in That Hideous Strength.

And who is the major financier of all the evil at the U.N.? The American taxpayer. The U.S. is the largest contributor to the U.N. and its affiliated organizations providing about 22% of its budget. The actual amount is difficult to pin down because so many agencies underwrite U.N. programs. For example the Department of Health and Human Services contributes to UNICEF and the Department of Energy contributes to the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency.

Trying to identify the actual budget impact of U.N. funding, Sen. Tom Coburn in 2006 asked the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for the real amount totals from 2001-2005. It was considerably more than what was reported by the State Department. The figures presented were:
  •  2001 - $3,183,166,000
  •  2002 - $3,934,814,000
  •  2003 -  $3,841,323,000
  •  2004 - $4,115,155,000
  •  2005 - $5,327,276,000
One of the good things President George W. Bush did was to cut off funding for the U.N. population control agency because of their support for China's forced abortion program. Otherwise totals in some years would have been even higher.

In fiscal year 2009 OMB's annual report  listed U.N. funding at  $6,347,415,000. So in only nine years the U.S. contribution to the U.N. has almost doubled. The number of jobs at the U.N. increased by about 40% during that time as well. In view of the fact that the U.N. spends so much time and money: undermining the sovereignty of nations, challenging parental rights over the upbringing and education of their children, supporting moral abominations like coerced abortion, and draconian population control programs, and violating the moral and religious values of independent nations, isn't it time for taxpayers to challenge U.S. funding of this evil bureaucracy?

If you want to find out for yourself what the U.N. is up to, subscribe to the Friday Fax of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM). C-Fam's mission is "To defend life and family at international institutions and to publicize the debate." They have done a masterful job with a tiny staff of exposing the evil agenda at the U.N. that not only fails to protect the individual but works for his destruction, especially the most helpless little ones in the womb.

The Heritage Foundation also says it's Time to Rein in the U.N.'s Budget.  They propose that the Administration and Congress:
  • Announce that the U.S. is returning to the principle of zero real growth in the U.N. regular budget,
  • Identify key reforms to improve budgetary constraint and insist that the U.N. adopt and implement them,
  • Demand that large donors be given more influence over U.N. budgetary decisions and restore legislative withholding if the U.N. fails to adopt changes to that effect, and
  • Demand increased transparency and accountability at the U.N.
These things sound reasonable and like a preliminary move toward reining in this out-of-control liberal monster. Something must be done. Archbishop Aguer is right about the United Nations as it is today, a tool of powerful interests who are promoting an ugly new world order that destroys the rights of the individual and "despises the poor." That moral and religious people are forced to pay for it with our taxes as it undermines our rights is an injustice that must be addressed.

Fr. Jenkins' Abortion Connections

For those who missed the Washington Times editorial that included Fr. Jenkins' abortion connection here it is, from Booing Notre Dame. (No wonder Fr. Jenkins "refused comment."):

The Rev. John I. Jenkins, president of Notre Dame, remains defiant about honoring Mr. Obama and said last month, "We're just so proud to have him." The priest's own associations place him further at odds with his church. Father Jenkins is a member of the board of directors of Millennium Promise, an organization ostensibly organized to fight poverty. A closer look exposes a darker agenda. One of Millennium Promise's major initiatives is Millennium Villages, a joint project with the United Nations Development Program and Columbia University's Earth Institute that promotes "reproductive rights" as a solution to poverty in the Third World, especially in Africa.

In a chapter on "Maternal and Child Health" in the June 2008 Millennium Villages Handbook, one of the organization's "core interventions" is listed as "abortion services." The handbook states: "In countries where abortion is legal, safe abortion services in controlled settings by skilled practitioners should be established." To make abortion more accessible in remote areas, the action plan advises that abortion services need to be expanded to the village level. In a subsection of the handbook titled "Quick Impact Initiatives for Gender," one of the "strategic priorities" is to "expand access to family planning and contraceptive information and services." Father Jenkins refused to comment to The Washington Times, but surely he knows that abortion and artificial contraceptives are prohibited by the Catholic Church.
