What Women Have Lost! And Men Too.

So much has been lost in the Church and in our culture, much of it since Vatican II. The sixties was a particularly disastrous decade both within and outside the Church. The sexual revolution with the invention of "the pill" made eliminating babies as easy as popping a pill every day - at least when it worked as it was meant to work. Originally intended for married couples, its use quickly devolved into recreational sex and one night stands: no responsibility, no complications, no babies. 

And the Church was silent. It was about fifteen years after Humanae Vitae, the encyclical that condemned contraception that I first heard a sermon on the papal document. I went out of church and congratulated and thanked the priest. Today, polls show that most Catholic women, about 87%, use a form of artificial birth control to avoid pregnancy.

We have a pope with an engaging personality who is apparently morally bankrupt and cares very little for either the flock or the faith. We have a president with an obnoxious personality who obviously cares about Americans and talks about Christ more than many preachers do. Ah, but he is no gentleman. I agree, but I'll take a vulgar man who acts more like a shepherd against the wolves than a highly polished smooth talker who covers his wolfness with a sheepskin. Did the Vatican learn nothing from the clerical sex abuse scandals? Dymphna and Chris serve us all by being watchmen on the tower blowing the warning trumpet. My husband checked the bees today. Two of our three hives were overrun with ants. Ants are interesting creatures. Jill Biden is in Kenya promoting contraception. Liberals don't want babies at all, but especially not more black babies. Remember when Ruth Bader Ginsberg said she had concerns "about population growth and particularly growth in populations we don’t want to have too many of." Wonder whom she meant? Consider that black women are aborted at a much higher rate than white women and that Planned Parenthood is overrepresented in minority areas. Somehow, I don't think Ginsburg was talking about getting rid of the babies of the residents on Martha's Vineyard and other pricey neighborhoods populated by the elites. Nope, gotta get those welfare babies whom liberals always assume will grow up to be criminals. Kill 'em early and often!

I once said to my husband that I would know the Catholic Church wasn't the true Church when she endorsed abortion and contraception. Of course, it can never happen! The Church is indefectible which means she cannot err. She is always led by the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean she won't fall into the hands of evil men. And that she has!

Pro-Life Faculty at Notre Dame Address University President Fr. John Jenkins

It's good to know that there are at least a few faculty members at Notre Dame who are challenging the university's abortion/contraception health coverage. Please pray that Fr. Jenkins attendance at the March so touched his heart that he will rescind the evil policy that the administration has put in place that allows the murder of babies, the attack on innocence, and the violation of parental rights. Please, Notre Dame alumni, write to the school and object to their very anti-Catholic behavior. It's hard to understand an ordained priest shaking his fist at God. One wonders what the underlying motivation is: money? power? blackmail? There must be more to the story considering the damage to Notre Dame's reputation by fighting for the exemption as a conscience issue and then immediately doing a 180 and voluntarily instituting the mandate. At this point I'm not surprised by anything this pope says or does, but the idea that Pope Paul VI giving nuns in danger of being raped permission to use contraceptives (probably barrier methods) is totally different than giving permission for contraception for Zika. Those nuns were not sexually active and trying to prevent pregnancy. They were using contraceptives like a police officer uses a bullet proof vest to protect himself from a shooter's bullet.

It Begins: Synod on the Family Opens in Rome

Today is a big day. First of all, my husband and I celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. What an adventure rearing five children in a world of confusion (in the "spirit" of Vatican II and the dissent over Humanae Vitae)  and a growing culture of death. When Roe v. Wade came down in 1973, we had two little ones and I hugged them tighter as I mourned the untimely deaths of their spiritual brothers and sisters murdered silently amidst the cheers of the raging feminists. And then, with the support of my husband, I put on the armor of God and began fighting against abortion for the sake of our family and all the little endangered ones. The faithful Catholic family is the greatest bulwark against the relentless culture of death.

Ostensibly, the Synod is supposed to strengthen, renew, sanctify, and increase the number of faithful Catholic families. That, at least, should be its goal. But we all know from last year's Extraordinary Synod and machinations of the "progressive bishops" that many do not share that vision. Rather than build up the nuclear family, they want to transform the definition of "faithful Catholic family" to include adulterous unions and same-sex partnerships.

Was it an accident that the Synod opens on the day we hear readings from Genesis and St. Mark that affirm the family? Certainly not in God's providence. Genesis reminds us that "a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one flesh." One man and one woman -- not a series of men or women like musical chairs and not two men or two women playing house together. It is the sacred union of Adam and Eve that God blesses when he gives them dominion over all creation, tells them to multiply and fill the earth, and looks at all he has made and finds it "very good."

What Does the Church Teach about Sex?

Go here for a great explanation on sex, marriage, why contraception is wrong, and Natural Family Planning. God is not the big spoilsport in the sky. He gave us love and marriage to generate new souls for heaven and to help us to be happy here on earth. If you follow his rule book you have a better chance to succeed in your "pursuit of happiness." Catholics who follow Church teaching on marriage don't get STDs, have a much lower chance of divorcing, have a lower risk of contracting breast cancer and other diseases associated with artificial hormones, etc.

If you bought a Porsche wouldn't you read the manual from cover to cover to make sure you did everything necessary to keep it in good working order? Well....you ARE more valuable than any Porsche and if you want to keep yourself and others in mint (baptismal) condition, it's not that hard. Read the manual and follow its directions. What's the manual? Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, writings of the Church Fathers and the saints.

Life is an exciting and wonderful adventure. You will enjoy it the most, if you follow the rules set down by the "life coach." Don't let the lies of the enemy mess up your adventure. It can easily become a nightmare that way.

Contraception: The Deadly Compromise between Politics and the Pro-Life Movement

I remember forty years ago when National Right to Life (NRLC) wouldn't say one word about contraception. Thinking with the world's mind, the leaders did not want to rock the boat and risk losing Protestant support. They also wouldn't cover the rescue movement. That's one reason a friend of mine, who was the editor of NRLC News in the late 70s, quit. The powers that be tied his hands and censored the news. That's why I've never contributed a cent to NRLC. They just don't get it.

Chemical contraceptives are poison. If you are using them, I beg you to read the insert that comes with the package AND TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! Too bad Olympic hopeful Megan Henry didn't. Why should a healthy woman have to take a strong drug every day to "control" a normal bodily process? Contraceptive chemicals treat a woman like she's defective because of her fertility which is treated like a disease. Read the article at LifeSiteNews and consider the million and billion dollar payouts from big pharma to the women damaged by these methods. (Remember the Dalkon Shield?) Hey, they make so much money they can afford to pay off a class action suit occasionally. Birth control chemicals are among the most lucrative drugs on the market. They illustrate the biblical admonition that "love of money is the root of all evils."

It's time to expose the real war on women. 

When Pro-Lifers Muddle the Issues!

Austin Ruse heads up C-FAM, the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, in New York which is the major pro-life watchdog at the U.N. They do great work. So it was particularly unsettling to see Ruse's article on Crisis Magazine's website, Is Contraception the Hill We Want to Die On? Essentially, the article is an endorsement of Barbara Comstock who's running to fill Frank Wolf's congressional seat for the 10th District of Virginia despite positions that seriously conflict with Catholic teaching and the pro-life issue specifically.

The problem in Ruse's view, is that a solid pro-life candidate, Bob Marshall, a Virginia state delegate, has filed to run against Comstock in the Republican primary. Rather than celebrating this solid pro-life candidate, Ruse, who supports Comstock, raised a straw man to attack Bob's candidacy. Contraception. His article argues against the possibility of making contraception illegal, as if anyone, including Bob, is trying to do that. What he really objects to is Bob's criticism of Comstock's morally unjustifiable act supporting the over-the-counter sale of so-called "contraceptives" that actually cause abortion.
