Why I Will Never Go "No Contact"

I recently read a shocking statistic. Thirty-eight percent of Americans went "no-contact" with a friend or family member in the past year. That's about one in four individuals. And many remain estranged indefinitely. That's a pretty significant number of people cutting ties with family and friends. 

Why is this happening? Lots of reasons, but I found this particularly sad:

Nearly three-quarters of respondents (73 percent) said they feel inclined to distance themselves from a friend or loved one during difficult moments, rather than communicate openly to solve the problem. How Do You Spread the Kingdom of Christ?

I spent years focused on pro-life volunteering. For about twenty years I sidewalk counseled almost every week at an Alexandria abortion business located right next to Bishop Ireton High School within a stone's throw of the Eucharist. The other place I counseled for years was in Falls Church within a stone's throw of the Eucharist at St. James. Sad to say both of these Catholic locales adopted the strategy of the three monkeys. Don't look at the abortion facility, don't listen to the silent screams of the babies murdered, and say nothing. Just keep out of it following a strategy of appeasement.

One of my chickies is sick. At first I thought Flapper was getting broody because I'd find her in the nesting box. But her behavior wasn't normal for a broody chicken. She wasn't puffing up and acting aggressive; she was acting...well...sick.

I was reading LifeSiteNews this morning and saw the latest attack on a pro-lifer outside an abortion business. The victim, 83-year-old Olga Fairfax, is a friend of mine. When I lived in Northern Virginia Olga and I participated in many pro-life events together. She once asked me to take a pregnant young woman to an ultrasound appointment with an abortionist. "What?" you're asking. "Why would you do that?"

As a long-time sidewalk counselor and rescuer, the video hit very close to home. I recognized scenes like those depicted. On several occasions, I had conversations outside abortion facilities with new agers and others who self-described as atheists and satanists. Sometimes, the presence of demons was almost palpable especially when I was in jail with a large rescue contingent and at one of the women's marches in Washington, D.C.

I used to sidewalk counsel at an abortion mill with a man whose style offended a lot of folks. He was
loud and could be abrasive. When he had the bullhorn, some of the folks on the prayer line got uneasy. "What will he say next?" He was especially hard on the men bringing the women to the abortion mill. I loved him! But, I admit, sometimes he even made me cringe.

You know what? He saved a lot of babies. God used him with his abrasive style to reach the hearts of some who were impervious to the velvet glove. I particularly remember the day we saved a little Muslim baby, the sixth child in her family. It was my abrasive friend who did the counseling when the couple pulled into the driveway.

I thought of him this morning while reading comments on the post I wrote yesterday about Catholic bloggers who condemn other bloggers for condemning.

Women Suffer from their Abortions for a Lifetime!

Pray for this poor mother who is still suffering from her abortion. The pain is obvious in her voice. Thank God she was there and helped another couple not make the same mistake she did. God bless all sidewalk counsellors!

Sidewalk Counseling: The Front Line of the Abortion War!

Two thumbs up for this great video! I spent about 15 years sidewalk counseling -- in Falls Church and in Alexandria. One of the things we avoided was bloody pictures out front -- not because I disagree with their use. I'm 100% in favor of them in the correct context. But outside the abortion mill you are trying to reach the mom and you don't want a barrier that may keep her from talking to you. If see sees the bloody picture first she is more likely to go right by. If you give her literature that focuses on HER and HER NEEDS, she may listen. I usually had one photo of an abortion in the packet I distributed, but it wasn't the up front approach. That was a smile and a, "We're here today to offer you help. Most women don't really want an abortion but feel desperate. How can we help you? Sometimes they would talk, sometimes not. But I have photos of saved babies from my front line work and I rejoice in thinking about those little ones out in the world. I'm not so close to any abortion mills these days (Thank God!) but I still think and pray for all those dear ones out saving babies. Pray for sidewalk counselors. I know some absolutely wonderful, godly men who retired from worldly work to do the most important work in the world. They sidewalk counsel frequently.

Dick and Jim, I pray for you and your wonderful work. May God use your example to inspire many more to imitate your holy apostolate! Our Lady of Life, pray for us.

Pro-Lifers Have the Right to Free Speech!

This woman probably either had an abortion or helped someone else get an abortion. Please pray for her. How far has she buried her hurt? Let's pray that someone gives her information about healing.

It was great to see a police officer defending the right to free speech. Thanks to this gracious officer. He really was a peace-keeper.

And thanks to pro-lifers who go out to confront the culture of death. Many high school kids are sexually active and facing the abortion decision. Being there reaches the very ones who need the information about the humanity of the unborn and assistance that's available. Please pray for the sidewalk warriors who defend the babies!

A few things to consider in this video. First, the woman denies the truth of the abortion signs which are incontrovertible. Listen to her continuously insist, "It's a clump of cells at 12 weeks...no hands are showing at that time." Really? A baby at 10 weeks has a well-formed body. Development at 8 Weeks:
The baby is now a little over half an inch in size. Eyelids and ears are forming, and you can see the tip of the nose. The arms and legs are well formed. The fingers and toes grow longer and more distinct.

No hands are showing?

Development at 12 Weeks: 

The baby measures about 2 inches and starts to make its own movements. You may start to feel the top of your uterus above your pubic bone. Your doctor may hear the baby's heartbeat with special instruments. The sex organs of the baby should start to become clear.

This poor woman may just be spouting lies she was told at an abortion mill. Her anger is misdirected at those who are showing her the painful truth. Grief and guilt are common after abortion. And people will feel anything before they will deal with those emotions. Pray daily for babies in danger of abortion and mothers suffering from having killed their children. May God have mercy on them and bring them to healing.

These dedicated folks have saved 316 babies since they began sidewalk counseling in Hagerstown, MD six years ago and the abortuary business is down 50%. Sidewalk counseling works! And abortionists and their minions hate it! Every person who leaves the abortion business testifies to the impact of sidewalk counseling. Even one person praying the rosary quietly means everyone inside is on edge and the abortions take longer. Not to mention the depressing effect of having clients walk out. Brad Fischetti sidewalk counsels at abortion mills and tweets for life. Praise God for calling to his army those who have a connection with the young. I just read an article about teenagers in Great Britain who have had six and seven abortions at taxpayer expense. Pray for the Lord to raise up prophets who will touch the hearts of the young.

Sidewalk Conversion: Abortion Mill on the Road to Damascus

This conversion story gave me goosebumps. Saving lives at the abortion mills is a miracle, but an even more important miracle is conversion of heart. After all, the Lord tells us not to fear the one who can kill the body, but the one who can thrust a soul into hell. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and to hear about an "aha" moment when a soul recognizes the truth --- well, how beautiful to witness such a miracle. Praise God for the event described here and pray for all involved especially the young man who saw the light.

Today was my last day at the abortuary on Commonwealth Drive just around the corner from the Pregnancy Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. This particular clinic had fallen under the radar and been ignored for far too long until this year. Even the accountant who lives next door was shocked to see pro lifers standing vigil. I thought it was going to be an uneventful final day where I would get to say goodbye to all the wonderful pro lifers who have been sacrificing their Weds evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm to defend the unborn and be a living example of God's never ending love for moms and dads in need of spiritual rescue.

Many familiar faces and some new faces were there and I was glad to see them all -- but sad that it was going to be the last time.

It turned out to be the busiest day I had ever seen at the Commonwealth abortuary -- the cars kept coming and coming. Most of the pro life volunteers were in the drive way ministering to their spiritual brothers and sisters that were there to abort their babies. A couple other pro lifers were standing on the sidewalk in front of the abortuary holding signs and I decided to join them.

Linda Gibbons is Back in Jail!

Linda Gibbons, the Canadian pro-lifer who has spent eight of the last seventeen years in prison, is back in jail. She violated an injunction by walking on the sidewalk within the "bubble zone" at an abortion mill run by infamous abortionist Henry Morgentaler. This petite grandmother is relentless in her determination to love the babies by standing with them where they are being murdered and offering assistance to their mothers. Would that we all had the zeal of this courageous hero of the unborn. It is amazing to me to watch the parade of police surrounding and arresting Linda "who opened not her mouth." Prayer, Presence, and Pictures Pressure Abortion Mills to Close

Another abortion mill recently closed due to prayer and presence pressure of 40 Days for Life.


But there are plenty more out there that need our presence. Won't you watch with Mary at the foot of the cross? Abortion mills are where Jesus is being crucified today. How much will God bless those who stand up for his living image in these tiny babies.

Want to help close an abortion mill? Many of you reading this live within 25 miles of a a killing center. Prayer and presence have closed many of these demonic places, especially when they face continuous exposure through pictures at the site. If you live near Germantown, MD you have a great opportunity to protect late term babies from being brutally murdered by Leroy Carhart. He has now added infanticide to his atrocities. One mother seeking an abortion reported that Carhart told her “if the baby is born alive you will not be charged extra.”
Where is the OUTRAGE over these atrocities, over the brutal murder of our children right in front of our eyes, right in the midst of our daily life routines?

WHERE ARE YOU? After attending Mass and receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion could you not stop by the Germantown Mill and stand up for Our Lord, Stand up for our Children! Stand up for all that is good and decent? Stand up against this monster murderer in our midst.

We know that we are having an impact based on meetings with local police and condo board members. The condo owners do not like the truth images that we show of what Carhart does to his children victims. Showing these truth images is what will lead to the closing of the Germantown abortion mill. We must keep up the pressure.

Our numbers have gone down! Why is there so much complacency to this HORROR show? We must have the numbers in order to keep up the pressure.

If you are outraged over seeing these truth images showing Carhart’s brutality to late-term children, be more outraged over the fact that he is actually committing those atrocities while you are merely viewing the images. It was only through the showing of these kinds of images that revolutions such as ending child labor and slavery were brought about. As Father Pavone says ‘Child killing will not end until Americas sees what child-killing is about.’ Without these images we don’t have a case.

WAKE-UP! Take a stand for these children! Come join us! We need to have a HOLY OUTRAGE over this Horror show at Germantown, a modern day Auschwitz!

Please….. come and stand with us on Monday mornings at the Germantown mill. There are NO government task forces to help protect these innocent babies who are killed. There are NO special military troops to defend their lives on the front lines........

I live two hours from Germantown, but plan to go within the next few weeks and join in the prayer crusade there. Driving out the devil requires sacrifice and I think of it as did the crusaders who drove the Turks out of the Holy Land and protected western Europe from being overrun by Islam. When we defend the babies we defend Christ and His Church. Please make the sacrifice to fight abortion on the frontlines.
