Senate Blocks Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood Hours after Papal Speech

Our Lady of Akita, pray for us.
Senators Block Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood for One Year

Is anyone surprised? Did anybody think the pope would have any impact with that _____ speech. (Fill in the blank with the adjective of your choice. But no profanity please.)

Only one Democrat voted for the bill -- Joe Manchin of West Virginia, my husband's home state. Good for him.

Eight Republicans voted against it: Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Dean Heller of Nevada, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mark Kirk of Illinois, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Susan Collins of Maine. As far as I'm concerned, Rand Paul is off my list of presidential possibilities.
A country that kills its children has no future and, frankly, I don't think we deserve one. I just read an apocalyptic story for teens about the end of the earth. I'm sending it to one of my grandchildren. The end  came about from a comet-like heavenly body on a collision course with the earth. Actually, it reminded me of the approved apparitions of Sr. Agnes of Akita. Here is what Our Lady told her:
As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.
The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them....Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.
Are we not seeing much of this coming to pass? Embrace the messages of Fatima. Pray and do penance constantly. Beg for God's mercy. Prepare to be martyrs and offer sacrifices to save poor sinners from hell. We do not know the day or the hour, but the signs of the times are serious indeed. And every one of us should live our lives as if today is the only day we have.

That is disappointing to hear about Rand Paul. Off my list as well. Seems I will have more free time on the first Tuesday of November, 2016.

Rand Paul is an idiot! Rand Paul is nothing like his dad, Ron Paul.
