Umm, no...having personally experienced this Bishop (I lived in Spokane, though I went to the Byzantine Church)...this appointment is as bad as the doom and gloomers say it is. Orthodoxy was persecuted in his former diocese....
Any specifics from your experience? I have a hard time getting past his ban on priests defending the little ones in the womb. That seems scandal enough.
I agree with Joe. Cupich came to the Diocese of Baker at the invitation of then-Apostolic Administrator Bp Skylstad (who preceded Cupich in Spokane) to give some training prior to the implementation of the new GIRM. It was standard liberal guitar-playing fare. I also watched Cupich's episcopal ordination...ugh. Granted, the ordinand doesn't always have a lot to say about how that is all orchestrated, but it does say something. Cupich's appointment is bad news for Catholic identity and tradition, and I fear the Diocese of Spokane will get someone who is just as bad as a replacement for Cupich.
Orthodox priests had to handle 3-4 parishes at a time or were placed in ecclesiastical Siberia.
Yes, the ban (and it was a ban) until public relations got in the way happened before my arrival there, but it was still in effect when I did get there.
While I was able to receive kneeling from him, the look I received was rather interesting.
Oh Boy!! This is my Diocese....I am in for a real....ride on the persecution train, I fear. They say he's also a clone of Cdnl. Bernadin....and his reign was a disaster for Chicago, not to mention the Country as a whole.'Pastoral' seems to be the new buzz word. You can throw Dogma out the window I suppose. Without any 'bans' on anything, this will give progressive Priests the green light in and of itself. I read also that in Spokane (for a time) he also put a 'ban' on Eucharistic Adoration.....across the Diocese. Now someone tell me.....why would one do that? The only reason I can think of is that he doesn't believe in the Real Presence. I guess as far as the 'unorthodox' clerics view the Blessed Sacrament, it is only a 'meal'. Hmm....kind of like the Protestant Denominations. Lord Jesus Have Mercy, and PLEASE...come soon!
Pray for Chicago Catholics that damage he does is minimal before his "promotion" within the hierarchy. I have lived through the regime and it is permeated with half-truths and lies. He persecuted those that outwardly disagree.

ReplyDeleteNo surprise, Cupich is a clone of Pope Francis. This is no surprise as Pope Francis dislikes orthodoxy.
