Is it any wonder that so many Catholics don't believe in the Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist or fall for lies in the name of compassion including those that deny reality itself!
Well, folks, it's time to grow up! No matter how bad your religious education experience, you bear responsibility to instruct the ignorant, a spiritual work of mercy. And that instruction begins with yourself. With a teacher like Bishop Schneider, you have no excuse not to begin that instruction right now today! Isn't Lent the ideal time?
A great place to start is with Bishop Schneider's article on the Crisis of Faith in the World Today. Here's a bit about how we got into this mess:
At the beginning of the 21st century, we are witnessing such an apostasy in the civil society, which resembles a direct and quasi-apocalyptic revolt against God Himself and against the divinely established order of the natural law....
The abandonment and rejection of the Christian religion, and the denial of God and his Christ, has plunged the minds of many into the abyss of pantheism, materialism and atheism, and the consequence is that they strive to destroy rational nature itself, to deny any criterion of what is right and just, and to overthrow the very foundations of human society.Amen! Consider gender insanity and same-sex "marriage" philosophies that chop at the roots of the family. When the world denies the scientific reality that every cell of our body identifies us as male or female, it surely degenerates into one huge Bedlam, the infamous London insane asylum that inspired so many horror flicks. We're living it every day now and it is killing our children - literally.
What's the answer? Bishops Schneider tells us:
Since human beings are totally dependent on God as their Creator and Lord, and created reason is completely subject to uncreated truth, we are obliged to yield to God the revealer full submission of intellect and will by faith. This faith, which is the beginning of human salvation, the Catholic Church professes to be a supernatural virtue, by means of which, with the grace of God inspiring and assisting us, we believe to be true what He has revealed, not because we perceive its intrinsic truth by the natural light of reason, but because of the authority of God himself, who makes the revelation and can neither deceive nor be deceived. The world is at war with God! And if we are going to be warriors for Christ and His Church we need to arm ourselves with the faith in the name of Jesus Christ. As Bishop Schneider says:
We shall never, however much we exert ourselves, succeed in calling men back to the majesty and empire of God, except by means of Jesus Christ. “No one,” the Apostle admonishes us, “can lay other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3: 2). It is Christ alone … true God and true man: without whom nobody can know God with the knowledge for salvation, “neither does anyone know the Father but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal Him” (Math. 11: 27). Hence, it follows that to restore all things in Christ and to lead men back to submission to God is one and the same aim. To this, then, it behoves Us to devote Our care – to lead back mankind under the dominion of Christ. When We say to God We do not mean to that inert being heedless of all things human which the dream of materialists has imagined, but to the true and living God, one in nature, triple in person, Creator of the world, most wise Ordainer of all things, Lawgiver most just, who punishes the wicked and has reward in store for virtue. This Lent put yourself in the hands of a brilliant teacher. In order to love Christ and serve Him you must first KNOW Him. And we can't know another without immersing ourselves in his mind and heart. The deeper we go into the faith of the Church, the more we will know the mind of Christ and the more we know Him, the more we will love Him. The more we love Him, the more we will want to serve Him. Read the lives of the saints and you will know without a doubt how true that is.
