Queen Elizabeth was a Woman of Strength and Discipline Who Gave Us an Example of Dignity....

...and dedication to duty. May she rest in peace.

In this television broadcast Queen Elizabeth expressed appreciation for the "ageless ideals" that many were throwing  aside "as if they were old and outworn machinery."

She also said, "I am not surprised that many people feel lost and unable to decide what to hold onto and what to discard." She warned that thoughtless people “would have religion thrown aside, morality in personal and public life made meaningless, honesty counted as foolishness and self-interest set up in place of self-restraint.” Those words are as timely today as when they were spoken.

As I watched these videos, I thought of Pope Francis, so eager to throw aside our "ageless ideals as if they were old and outworn machinery." And I thought of Queen Elizabeth who committed herself to "her duty." If only Pope Francis had that same ideal and, like his predecessor, Pope St. Pius X, sought to "Restore all things in Christ."

Let us pray that this woman of grace, beauty and dignity is happy in heaven or will be soon. And may God help us all to always do our duty as well as she did and to embrace the goal of St. Pius X and work to restore all things in Christ.

  1. Queen Elizabeth is not to blame for the sins of her children any more than you or I are responsible for the sins of our children. As for plundering the world, the monarchy hasn't had much power for generations and Queen Elizabeth had about zero. The monarchy is a figurehead and tourist attraction that brings in more money than is spent on them. Blame the Prime Ministers and the governments for England's policies. Yes, the Queen signs off on the laws. She doesn't make them and her signature is pro forma. There was not a hint of scandal surrounding her personally. The men around her, on the other hand.....
