SEE, I told you so

Growing up I was taught not to lord it over other people when I was proven right when they were not seeing what I was seeing on any particular issue, i.e., when they were wrong. The term "See, I told you so" was never to be said to other people.

Well, that was long ago, and today "See, I told you so" is my favorite expression. It just feels so good to say it, so today, just one day after posting THIS, I am feeling really really great.

Since I am just me, a mother and a grandmother, who long ago majored in English then immediately went out into the world to gallop race horses for a living (my mother: "We sent you to university for this?") and do not have a degree in theology, philosophy, doctrine, Canon Law, Church management, etc,, but only learned through the School of Hard Knocks (I have a PhD in that), I am apparently not to be taken seriously...since only if all those letters were after my name would I be worthy of being listened to. 

Well, maybe then you will listen to Robert Spencer (Jihad Watch), for today he posted THIS.

Therefore I say, "SEE, I told you so". Historically, People of the Book were only the Christians and the Jews, not adherents of Islam, therefore we are not all (Christians, Jews, Muslims) "people of the book". Even Muhammad said it. So if you don't believe Robert Spencer or me, you can believe Muhammad himself:

And argue not with the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), unless it be in (a way) that is better (with good words and in good manner, inviting them to Islamic Monotheism with His Verses), except with such of them as do wrong, and say (to them): "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you; our Ilah (God) and your Ilah (God) is One (i.e. Allah), and to Him we have submitted (as Muslims). How many know that, with the new interstate from Orlando emptying out into our semi-rural area, there is suddenly a new mosque in our town on the same street as the Catholic Church? 

Currently in a small ramshackle building, Muslims will eventually rent a bigger building, after which they will purchase land and build a large mosque. Next comes demands for sharia law...followed by killing of Jews. How many Christians will rush to the new Islamic Center ("prayer space for women in completely separate prayer hall") wanting to hold interfaith meetings?

Inflicting Greater Pain

Have you ever seen a dog fight? Not an illegal dog fight in a ring with betting. I mean a real honest to goodness fight to the death between two male dogs that have happened upon each other by accident in a normal setting? I have and it's horrifying, but I saw with my own eyes a hero step in and stop it instantaneously. Snap! And it was over. Just that fast. The dog on top, his teeth already sunk into the other dog's throat slowly killing him, leaped off his victim yowling in pain.

It happened at a Thoroughbred training barn where grooms, riders, owners, trainers were free to bring their dogs while milling around the barn talking horse talk and watching daily workouts. One of the exercise riders had a German Shepherd and another person had a pit bull. Both dogs were full males. The German Shepherd was frequently at the barn since his owner worked there. The pit bull's owner was visiting and brought his dog along. I'm not certain he meant to let his dog out of the truck but suddenly there the dog was zigzagging around the courtyard intently sniffing the ground.

Is it because trouble follows me everywhere or because I make trouble wherever I go? Is it because people are liberal and I am not, therefore when I speak they’re automatically offended? Maybe it’s because grocery store managers tell checkout cashiers to make friendly conversation with customers about the food they’re buying. I don’t know, but it all went terribly wrong tonight, not so much for me – I rather enjoyed the “conversation” – but for the cashier, whom I suppose was just trying to be friendly while making comments about my food.

Now I feel badly! Maybe he wasn’t bragging after all! Maybe he was just following orders: “Be friendly. Talk about the food customers are purchasing. If you like something they’re buying, tell them so. Tell them about your life and places you’ve been where you tasted food like the food they’re buying. Make their shopping experience here at our store memorable.”

From 4:13 to the end of the video is an explanation of how the Rosary crusade was planned along Poland's 3,582 kilometer borderline. They are praying to God with the Mother of God for defending Christianity in Poland against the contemporary Islamic invasion.

I’m not one of those people who shies away from saying, “See, I told you so.” I just don’t say it with the same singsong voice I did as a child, because now it isn’t a taunt. It’s a factual statement: “See. I told you so.”

When I’m right I know I’m right. I knew I was right when I said it and no one believed me because orthodox Catholics are not to be taken seriously, not to be believed. So when other people who have more clout and believability than I do say the same thing and it makes the newspaper headlines, goes viral on the Internet or hits the nightly news, I smugly feel I have the basic human right to say, “See. I told you so.” But then I like to be really sure that they know they were wrong in not believing me in the first place, so these days after the “See. I told you so,” factual statement I often add:  “You didn’t believe ME when I told you, but since so-and-so said it and it’s on the news, you believe THEM. So why didn’t you believe me to begin with?”
