Poor Queen Marie, she deserves better than that. She actually was a good monarch who has the unfortunate fate of her history being written by her murderers.

Mary Ann Kreitzer said...

Agreed. And she died with such courage. As you say, the murderers write the history. As they continue to do today.

To Annoymous at 1:49p.m. on June 15: In the 1950s when I was in public high school, when I did not agree with an answer I had to give on a test, I would write "according to the book" before I gave the answer the writers of the textbooks and tests wanted. It was my way of saying that I did not believe it, but that was the answer they wanted so I gave it. I got the idea from my history teacher, who told us, "Don't believe everything in these textbooks. History depends on who is writing it. Go out and search on your own." I did, and it led me to the Catholic Church, and I know quite often Church history clashes with what is in public school textbooks. It is impossible to please everyone or tell every side in a public school forum, and those who run the schools and keep in power are those who get to write them.

Regarding my last post, of course the website the other Annonymous mentioned, "According to the Book.com, is about the book the Bible, which is always right. Never-the-less, when he or she mentioned it, what I did on those tests to have a clear conscience was brought to my mind.

Thank you, Mary Anne, for editing my last post at 7:10 p.m. yesterday.

You are most welcome.

you know, it is such an embarassment to our nation to have people like this in the White House, supposedly representing us to the world. whatever happened to the lady-like qualities of a first lady like Nancy Reagan? I suppose they can't help it--like my English granny used to say: breeding always tells. I just hope we can get them out of the White House and have a President and First Lady of whom we can be proud

So you think that the president should stop hosting state dinners? Should they serve mac and cheese and hot dogs? What is your point here? Just to be sort of mean?

Mary Ann Kreitzer said...

C'mon, Kris,

Are you saying there isn't anything between macaroni and cheese and $100 a piece steaks? I don't think it's mean to point out excess. You can buy a filet mignon trimmed for $32 a pound at Costco. And it's about half that if untrimmed. The Obamas have shown themselves to be elitists flying in pizza from St. Louis, etc.

Wouldn't it be nice if they used state dinners to feature recipes from various states. I will happily provide a Virginia menu with peanut soup, salad featuring local greens, southern fried chicken or stuffed Virginia ham, spoon bread, and steamed local asparagus or other vegetables, fruit pastries featuring seasonal fruits from local farms and orchards. And I'll bet my dinner would get raves without costing the taxpayers an arm and a leg.

pitty we don't have a good southern belle like you in the White House better n'these uppity folk from Chicago's south side I tell you it goes back to Eleanor Roosevelt and her "social revolution." it is the old sow's ear silk purse conundrum

Well, this is the menu from a recent state dinner and it seems pretty middle of the road to me. And the source is Fox so you have to believe it.... right?

you know, you are right about this but i was just looking at the picture of the Obamas and whatever else is wrong with them and there is plenty, it sure is nice to see a couple that look at each other as lovingly as they do

Anonymous said...

Yes, they do look at each other lovingly sometimes, but if she was pregnant or becomes pregnant with a third child did they or would they love each other enough to have it? Hmmm? For some reason I kind of doubt it.
