"In a new development, the National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies in real time, obtaining audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails and other information, various news outlets reported. The program is code-named PRISM."
This is chilling. The technology exists to keep track of everything we do and say, where we are at every minute of the day, etc. You may say, "I have nothing to hide," but that begs the question. IT IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS! And, as the IRS scandal shows, it is all used to persecute those whose politics differ from the administration's. This entire administration is corrupt from top to bottom. They make Richard Nixon look like a petty thief. Pray for our poor country.
What other president has come out with "I'm not a dictator," "don't fear government tyranny," and now, "this is not big brother." Really?
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm in Oz being told not to pay attention to the man behind the curtain!
Have you considered that maybe for the Obama administration Conservatives are the new terrorists?
ReplyDeleteThat many millions of phone records are being collected to as Bloomberg News says 'build a map of connections revealing patterns or oddities to help spot a terrorist’ should concern everyone.
But this is particularly disturbing for conservatives for 2 reasons
1. In 2009 the Dept of Homeland Security came out with a report entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment." In this report they targeted pro-lifers, those against immigration reform, those against same-sex marriage and Americans who are concerned about an increase in federal power, firearms restrictions, and a loss of American sovereignty. There was an outcry at the time because returning veterans were put on this list as well as those who might consider voting for 3rd party candidates. It seems the list was replete with this administration's political opponents.
2. Recent revelations that the IRS actually did target and go after conservatives i.e. this administration's political opponents.
In light of these two pieces of information what is to stop this administration from using this rich data mine of phone numbers to "build a map of connections revealing patterns or oddities to help spot” conservatives oops I mean "terrorists".
Mary Ann, you certainly have got that right.
ReplyDeleteApparently PRISM is not new. Dating back to 2007, that would be the Bush administration. I never did support the Patriot Act for reasons such as this.
