|Will predator Bishop Bransfield land on four feet like the proverbial cat with nine lives?|
I am not optimistic. This pope has surrounded himself with people just like Bransfield, but a little more discreet. And he's rewarded many of them.
Keep your eyes on Bransfield. All these bad guys are like the cat with nine lives who always lands onfour feet. The uppity-ups are letting Bransfield be a fall guy for now, but somehow they generally just keep on truckin'. Remember it was McCarrick, Wuerl, et al who advanced him up the ladder and Wuerl is still a close adviser and buddy of Francis. McCarrick, who is close to ninety and in failing health, is living as a layman in a Franciscan friary in Kansas. Please pray for him even if you have to hold your nose. Hopefully his fall from worldly grace will bring him to a profound recognition of the level of evil and damage he did to the Church. We can only pray he will repent and convert. God has given him the time to do so. May he use it well.
Back to Wheeling....Can there really be anyone so naive as to think any serious action will be levied to get Bransfield to make "personal amends for some of the harm he caused?" I'll believe it when I see it. Last I heard from sources in the diocese, Archbishop Lori was telling folks there they would have to support his retirement! Wouldn't that be a kick in the gut after he stole millions from them? How would you like to be a Catholic there being told to support his liquor tab in retirement?
Pray for Bransfield; he is truly a pathetic man, if one can call him a man. I imagine one could say the same thing about him as Portia did about the Duke of Saxony when Nerissa asked how she liked him:
Very vilely in the morning, when he is sober, and most vilely in the afternoon, when he is drunk. When he is best he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst he is little better than a beast. And the worst fall that ever fell, I hope I shall make shift to go without him.And so must say the good people of Wheeling. Good-bye, Michael Bransfield. May God give you the grace of repentance and conversion! Why don't you go live in the friary with layman Mr. McCarrick!
