Viewpoint Discrimination Against Christian Teacher

All over the country kids are being taught about the tenets of Islam, how to pray like a Buddhist, not to mention being exposed to anti-religious messages from atheists. But if you're a Christian teacher, watch out!

According to California Catholic Daily, the Poway Unified school district in San Diego:
allowed religious classroom displays by other teachers, including displays of a 35- to 40-foot string of Tibetan prayer flags with images of Buddha; a poster with the lyrics from John Lennon’s anti-religion song “Imagine;” a poster with Hindu leader Mahatma Gandhi’s “7 Social Sins;” a poster of Muslim leader Malcolm X; and a poster of Buddhist leader, the Dalai Lama.
What they won't allow is a series of patriotic banners such as "In God We Trust" displayed by high school teacher Brad Johnson for the past 25 years. Hey...some viewpoints are politically correct and protected by the schools, like the approval of same sex marriage, and some viewpoints are politically incorrect and anathema in the public schools, like the historical fact that our nation was founded on Christian principles.

Soooo....history must be rewritten and politically incorrect voices must be silenced. The teacher won the case at the lower level, but the school district appealed and it is being heard today before the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. C-Span will be broadcasting the case at a later date.

Where will the antagonism against Christian teachers in the public schools end?

  1. It will end when they quit shoving their religion down the throats of students.

I am so sick of our school district celebrating every Christian holiday and yet refusing to acknowledge in any way any Jewish, Muslim or any other religious holiday. Or respecting the rights and viewpoints of those who do not believe in any higher power. I don't think you'd be too happy if your kids had to go to school and read a verse from Book of Mormon every day, would you?

Just because you believe it to be so does not make it true.

  2. I'm curions. Do you think it would be legitimate or honest to teach Utah state history and ignore the Mormons? How about teaching California state history and saying nothing about the Spanish religious who built the missions?

Are you in favor of sanitizing history to eliminate all references to the Christian impact? Should teachers hide the persecution that led to the Pilgrim settlers to first leave England and then Holland because they wanted to practice their religion freely but not lose their English heritage?

The only religion being "shoved down the throats of students" these days is atheistic secular humanism (and Islam). Human Events has an interesting article about the war being waged against Christianity in the U.S. at http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=2027

Oh...and to echo your comment...just because you don't believe it, doesn't make it not true.
