I think that is likely. Dissent and sexual immorality also seem to go together. Makes sense, I think. If you want to do what you want to do and orthodoxy is a stumbling block...well...just pitch the doctrine and your conflict disappears. Fulton Sheen once said you could see where a person's sin lies by the problems he has with the teachings.
