It is lunacy that we Catholic had adopted American political categories to identify the beliefs and actions of members of The Hierarchy for political categories are too elastic and susceptible to change to be of any value; worse, it drags objective truth down in to the realm of personal or party opinion.

It would be much better for all concerned to speak of orthodox and heterodox for an orthodox Prelate can be supportive of sacramental disciplines that uphold all of the Commandments of Jesus Christ and be vocally in support of such things as a living wage but who would call that a conservative position?

The question is can such a pontificate continue to be considered legitimate in any sense at all.
