Exodus Now: Calling on Christians to Leave the Democrat Party

Check out E.W. Jackson's website Exodus Now calling on Christians to leave the Democrat party. Let's hope many listen and then work to make Republicans stay faithful to the principles articulated in the platform. Money issues are important, the economy matter, but finances are secondary to fundamental principles that begin with the defense of LIFE! Democrats are the party of death. They favor killing babies in the womb and babies born alive after abortion. They defend assisted suicide and see nothing wrong with starving and dehydrating people to death in passive euthanasia. They want an end to traditional marriage and elevate sexual deviance to a civil right. Their solution to poverty isn't to help people get out of it through work, but to make them ever more dependent on government giveaways funded by hard-working families being squeezed more and more by confiscatory taxes.

Take inventory of the damage done to Americans by liberal Democrat programs. Johnson's Great Society drove men, especially black men, out of the home and created an underclass dependent on Uncle Sugar Daddy. It increased out-of-wedlock births which, in turn, contributes to increasing violence since young men in fatherless homes often turn to gangs for their role models.

I suspect that single mom families can compensate for a missing dad, at least to a degree, by turning to churches. A church with a strong program for boys that includes male mentors, lots of fun and energetic activities, etc. can make a significant difference in a fatherless boy's life.  Government handouts a la Democrat policies never will.

Ask someone raised in a family on a limited income who had a strong father whether he felt deprived. My husband came from such a family. His dad was a machinist in a small business and his mom was a homemaker. They raised nine children. For the first 18-20 years they lived in a tiny three bedroom house with an itty bitty kitchen. When he was in high school my husband and his brother helped their dad build a larger house next door with four bedrooms. He grew up with a strong work ethic modeled by a dad who always had another project in the works that often involved the kids. Whether it was their huge garden or raising rabbits or buying a calf to raise for meat or his mom canning their produce - they worked and saw the results of their work. Add their strong Catholic faith and, all I can say as the recipient of his parents' example, is "What a great way to grow up!"

So I love E.W.'s message of strengthening America's values! May Virgnia voters recognize the great opportunity we have in our Republican ticket and vote for Cuccinelli/Jackson/Obenshain come November!

  1. People need to leave BOTH parties. The Republicans are los...have lost their soul as well and are pretty much Liberals in different packaging. Be an Independent...pay allegiance to no party...it hurts in the beginning but you will be better for it if you can be critical and constructive in your evaluation of right and wrong. Learn to be unemotional when discussions come up. Let a PROPERLY formed conscience guide you.

  2. I appreciate your comment and I agree that the Republican establishment has lost its soul. But if I were an independent I couldn't have played a part in electing the great ticket we just did for Virginia.

The reality is that we have a two-party system at present and if you hope to influence things at all, you need to work within it. I'm glad I helped elect E.W. Jackson to give us a real moral choice in November!

  3. Virginia state Sen. Mark Obenshain (R) won the Republican nomination to replace Ken Cuccinelli as the state's attorney general this weekend. As Think Progress reported Monday, Obenshain once introduced a bill that would charge women with a Class 1 misdemeanor if they failed to report a miscarriage to police.

The bill, introduced in 2009, stated that if a miscarriage occured without medical attendance, the woman would be required to report the "fetal death, location of the remains, and the identity of the mother" to the local or state police department. If she failed to do this within 24 hours, the bill would find the woman guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. As Think Progress notes, a Class 1 misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of “confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500” in Virginia.

    Thoughts on this guy?

  4. Reporting fetal death is nothing new. The CDC has been collecting fetal death statistics since 1922. Here is the url to a CDC document (revised 2003) Funeral Directors' Handbook on Death Registration and Fetal Death Reporting. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/misc/hb_fun.pdf

    The document includes this:
"The responsibility for completing and filing fetal death reports varies from State to State. In some States, the responsibility is placed on the hospital or other
institution if the fetal death occurred there and on the attending physician if the fetal death occurred somewhere else. In other States, the funeral director is
responsible for completing and filing the fetal death report. If the fetal death was the result of an accident, suicide, or homicide, the medical examiner or coroner
must be notified, and he or she must complete the cause of fetal death.

"State laws also differ with regard to the gestational age at which fetal deaths must be reported. Some States require the reporting of all fetal deaths regardless of the
length of gestation. Other States require only that fetal deaths weighing 350 grams or more or 20 completed weeks of gestation or more be reported. Other variations exist as well.

"The funeral director should be familiar with the laws of the State in which he or she operates and, if required by law to complete and file these reports, should become familiar with the procedures involved."

Virginia is by no means the only state with fetal death legislation. In New York "The fetal death must be reported regardless of the estimated gestational age of the fetus." New York State Public Health Law 4160.

Trying to make this a big deal is a horse that will not run.
